No trip to Belgium is complete without a trip to Brussels, so I went with Daniel and Dr. King, both from the U of A. We took a train to Brussels Central, got off, and started walking around. We walked past the royal palace, down to the Grote Markt (Grand Place), saw Manneken Pis, and had a late lunch of what else...mussels.... read more

Well knowing Luke and I of course a weekend away to a European country is going to include exciting times and of course small problems too. To put it another way, we almost didn't even make it there!!! Now I don't wanna point the finger of blame at anyone in particular (largely because it was my fault!). To start off with, we got up a little too late (ahem...Luke) and were rushing around to get ready in only half an hour before we had to walk to the train station. In the kafuffle and rush, it was only when we were a third of the way to the station that Luke asked "Did you bring your passport?" Of course I didn't, I hadn't even thought of it in all the rush. I ended up having to ... read more

We arrived to brussels nice cosmopolitan city where the base of the EU is modern, nice transport but still don't know the touristic spots, nice cathedral, modern business zone, some very nice gardens. I'm positive that I must be unfair with this city we were very tired and not so willing to made more research on what we can see on it. But why do we that stop, to take the brand new Eurotunnel and go to the UK (almost broken).... read more

Well with Christmas approaching fast, what a better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to go to a Christmas market it europe. There were so many to choose from, but the easiest one to get to was Belgium and besides the chocoloate is always a good excuse to go!!! We went on a tracks travel tour organised group to see the markets. We took a bus from london to dover and then ferried across to Calais in france. Then took bus all the way to Brussels (a very long trip - not to be done by bus in a hurry again!!) The markets in Brussels made up for the hours sitting in the bus. So many christmas lights and trees it was like a fairy wonderland - being a christmas junky I was in ... read more

So here we are at Waterloo International station on a grey Thursday morning. Our meticulous planning had paid off: we'd managed to squeeze six days' worth of winter clothing in our tiny wheelie cases. When we'd first decided to do this trip, I'd briefly toyed with the idea of purchasing a small rucksack - I mean, no interrailing trip is complete without a rucksack, right? Jasmin quickly put paid to *that* plan, when she announced that as far as she was concerned, a wheelie case was the only acceptable mode of trasporting clothes and toiletries from one place to another. So I went out and bought a wee rolling case instead - purple to match my purple jacket (after all, a girl has to be co-ordinated even when interrailing). It was so small I had to ... read more

After more than a year in the UK (and not having driven for that whole time!) Charmaine and I decided we should hire a car and explore the continent. Belgium is only a small country and fairly close to the ferry from England, so that’s where we headed. As I was leaving Chapman Taylor to start work with Floyd Slaski, I made Wednesday my last day at work and we took a long weekend. 17 November 2005 - London to Brussels We picked up a car from Hertz in Fulham first thing Thursday morning and after clearing London traffic, we REALLY had to pull finger to get down to Dover in order to make our 11am ferry to Calais. The little black Ford Focus performed well though and we scraped in with a few minutes to ... read more

Ce matin en me réveillant je me croyais ... read more
