Today we only had half a day in Vienna, and after that train to Zagreb in afternoon. We started the day by going museum quarters area. I thought of seeing the Volks Garden and some buildings there. Once there I remembered that this is where we finished the marathon couple of years back. One of the good runs. The volksgarden first appeared closed. So we walked around and saw the other buildings in the area. Then on way back, I realised there is another proper entrance to the garden. We found it and vola! It is such a beautiful garden. This was perfect time for roses, and there were roses everywhere. I wonder if there is such a place in Zurich that I am missing. Unfortunately we did not have lot of time to spend here as we wanted to see another museum. So after walking a bit, we decided to take the train back towards the palace to Technology Museum.
This is a small museum with collection of things from simple science experiments to huge railway engines. The museum looked kind of disorganised. I really enjoyed the section of big machinery, and little bit the museum section. We did
not have lot of time here either as we needed to pickup lunch and then off to train station. I would suggest giving it 3 - 4 hours to do a relaxed visit. After the museum we rushed back to tram station for hotel. There seemed no time to do a sit down lunch. We were also very tired. So off to hotel. The plan was to relax there a bit, and then have lunch at train station. I had seen an Indian place called chutney which was the backup in case I did not find any good Thai place. I really wanted to eat Thai. Coming back to hotel was a good decision though. We were able to sit there for an hour or so. In the meantime I went and bought some fruits for our journey from an small turkish place which was the only open grocery store.
At the train station, there are good eating place. We finally decided on Indian food instead of Thai. It was quite good - chutney. Next time I am definitely eating here. Then off to find our platform for train to Zagreb. The train was on time. This is suppose
to be quite a scenic journey. It goes through pastures and small villages that look somewhat Swiss though lakes and mountains are missing. Once entering Slovenia, things change a bit, especially quality of the road which is sometimes visible next to tracks. There is no passport check at Austria - Slovenia border though train did stop here for a while. Then cross into Croatia. There is proper passport check here as we are out of Schengen area. My passport check was easy as I have Swiss resident card, but my mother's took a while, they had to go back'n'forth to get multiple stamps on the passport. No issues though, they just asked what our plans are.
We reached Zagreb close to 11:00pm. The apartment that I booked is walking distance from train station, and with the phone GPS there was no issue in finding it. The place felt safe for walking at that hour even though it was quiet. The tram was still running. Our landlord was waiting for us at the apartment. Good end to a good day.

Never under estimate a walk in the gardens.
