Driving through the French Pyrenees to Andorra is incredible. The roads are full of switchbacks and the views are amazing, especially when the driving rain relents and you can actually see where you are going! Actually, we were quite lucky in that there were many storms around but only a few of them directly affected us. At times the road was exhilarating and a joy to drive on. As we crossed into Andorra, the customs officers seemed happy to ignore us. Then we faced a choice - drive through the mountain pass where a few kilometres could take a few hours or pay €6.60 to drive straight through the tunnel. We chose the latter and were soon finding our hotel, the Vall Ski,on the outskirts of Soldeu. Andorra. Think of ski slopes, miles of fresh snow ... read more

Day 56 16th October - Miami Platja : Camping Playa and Fiesta – Stiges As there was no check out time at the campsite we just spent the day chilling. Steve got up and went for a run and swim, and then later spent some more time on the beach and swimming. While I had a lay in and then spent some time on the internet. I should of not left him on his own, as he injured himself in the water as the silly boy thought he could swim over rock, he cut his finger and toe, and was bleeding in the water. He told me he was bleeding so much he was scared a shark was going to get him. I reassured him that the water around this area was too cold for sharks ... read more

Woolly says - We waved a regretful goodbye to El’s Pratt Village. Tea last night was excellent, using the 11 Euro menu (approximately £9.90GBP) I helped Ian out with his cannelloni starter, chicken main and toffee mousse. Jo seemed to be struggling to finish her garlic prawns and perch main so it was only fair to help her as well, no chance with her toffee mousse, it was gone before I batted an eyelid. If you’re heading towards Tarragona I would definitely recommend staying at this site. We started heading into the foothills of the Pyrenees, the scenery was amazing and as every twist and turn in the road revealed another stunning view things just got better and better. Passing lush green fields separated by lines of scarlet poppies we could see the real mountains getting ... read more

We didn't wake up until around noon I guess we were tired. The guys got home around 6 or 7 in the morning and went to bed and slept until noon so it was good. After getting through showers with everyone and one bathroom the two guys from Ireland decided it was time to hit the road so we said good bye. Manu had gone to the store and bought food while we had dressed. He put on a chicken, gabanzo beans, and other vegetables for our lunch It was ready around 2 so we had a very late start to our day and lunch. After we ate Manu took us sightseeing we parked our car in a free space! Parking is hard to find in this town. And got in Manu's car for a trip ... read more

Geo: 12.0998, -68.9293The ABC islands - Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao, also known as the Lesser Antilles, are all part of the Netherlands, though they seem to function as independent nations. The Dutch influence definitely lends a unique atmosphere to the place, especially when combined with the fact that it's a Caribbean island just off the coast of Venezuela. Sitting on the Punda waterfront in downtown Curacao, it's striking how reminiscent it is of Amsterdam's canals and architecture, except that here it isn't grey and dreary, and the buildings are painted in vibrant Caribbean colours. At times it also feels as if you're at a conference at the UN, with the variety of languages spoken in the streets, which include Dutch, English, Spanish, and Papiamento, a creole language that seems to be heavily-influenced by Spanish and Portuguese. ... read more

I was soon out of town, through the tunnel under the flood protecting dam, “The Great Wall of Arinsal” as it’s known, and up into sweet-smelling pine forest. The air was cool and crisp but I soon had a sweat on climbing up towards the peaks. Despite being red-faced and out of breath a big grin formed on my face as I realized how much I had missed being in the mountains. There was no one else around and only the sound of the coursing stream far below me and flittering birds. I felt thoroughly content. When I first had the idea of going to Andorra I started to wonder if I was being guilty of country counting. Internet blogs and forums suggested that the little principality was only worth visiting for winter-sports or cheap duty-free ... read more

18thJune 2012 – 23rd June 2012 After a thunderstorm last night and a strange bird that sort of sang all night long we awoke to a fine sunny day. Nearly ran over a pair of lagartos that were lazing in the road, but apart from that, an uneventful journey on the twisty N322 until we reached Balazote, where we picked up some nice straight roman roads and drove across the huge plains of wheat, olive trees and grapevines. Stopped at Tarazona de la Mancha to find a PO and get some shopping and found it to be a very pleasant place, with all roads leading to a central square and church and surrounded by wooden balconied buildings with arches underneath. We stopped at a campsite in Venta de la Contreras, which was down a ... read more

Well, we lugged some of our ski gear all the way from Toronto to London and on to France in the hopes of getting some time on the snow. Although we weren't able to get to the alps this year for a proper ski trip, we decided to squeeze it into our trip around France, and head to Andorra. And today we finally got a chance to use this equipment! Andorra is a much cheaper alternative to the alps. We rented equipment from the shop in our hotel. They had a 20% off discount (since its low season now) and they threw in the helmets for free. Unfortunately, they didn't have the best skis for Elysia... All they had was the silver level skis, and she wanted gold. But the price was so cheap that we ... read more

My adventures in Andorra and Carcassonne began with a cheap flight from Manchester. I landed in Girona, Spain and diligently waited the next morning for one of only two buses per day to take me to Andorra. There was no internet site and no pre-booking so I just had to hope a seat was available. I was in luck and spent the next 4 hours on a bus ride through the Spanish countryside and up into the mountains of the Pyrenees mountains. I stayed for two nights in the Cisco Hotel, right in the heart of the medieval section of Andorra la Vella. The first day I went for a great hike around a path that encircled the entire valley. I saw some cool buildings and bridges along the way and had a fancy tapas style ... read more

From Paressiene bussle and smog And to avoid the eternal fog Venture we did to warmer towns To the great Carcassonne; city of crowns Where kings and knights once did meet Along winding alleys and grand royal street Then up to where the air is clear Pyrennes mountains scattered with deer Near a lake in frosty Andorra We studied the beautiful fauna and flora It was then my car keys did disappear We scowered the snow far and near As we descended we couldn't be sure But a eagle was clasping them by its claw As it widened its brilliant span And sawed through the sky as well it can They jingled and jangled as he ascended Where mid-air my keys were pended Down they came at a terrible pace To a dismayed look upon my ... read more
