Hello, we´ve now moved onto to our 5th country of the trip, the small principality of Andorra between France and Spain. We only plan on staying a few days as we head through towards the vineyards around the Bordeaux region. Our visit to Barcelona was a blast. The city was amazing plus any city with a metro system is good news for those of us on foot. The first night we checked into a hostal with a balcony overlooking the main street in Barcelona, La Rambla. The nightlife was hopping, the street was so full of people and street performers, until the wee hours of the morning, you couldn´t even see any pavement. It was an actual sea of people. The night was long and loud and the place wasn´t particularly nice for the cost so ... read more

April 29 - 30, 2008 Andorra La Vella We had no idea what to expect here as, quite frankly, we had never heard of it before. We kind of threw a dart at the map the day before and this is where it landed. This is a very small “ Country” ( Principality ) between Spain and France. One of those places similar to Monte Carlo and Luxembourg. The big business here is tourists and it's a tax haven so there are lots of big banks, accountants and lawyers. One interesting fact we learned was that this is the place to be to live a long life. Highest average lifespan in the world at about 83 years. Must be the wine !! This is a very nice place right in the middle of the mountains and ... read more

Monday, 14th April Spent day mooching around Sitges.Much quieter on sea front today so we enjoyed a peaceful time walking around and eventually managed to find an internet room to download blog. Had been trying to do this for days without success. Shops here are very upmarket and interesting - all different in style and design. Friends, Elizabeth and Peter arrived later in the day after long drive up from Santa Pola. Had cooked them a meal so we enjoyed a happy time together. In the evening we watched an old Dads Army until we realised that the old German van next door and its occupants (not dishy ones!) were glaring at us and TV screen. We soon battened down hatches and shut ourselves in. Tuesday, 15th April Got the 9.30 bus today back into Barcelona ... read more

We left early Monday morning for what should have been a 6 hour journey to Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella. As it turns out, online directions in Europe are just as crap as they are in America & we ended up relying on my map reading skills to get us there. Needless to say, we made some wrong turns and added a couple of hours onto our trip...The drive was lovely though. Andorra reminded me of Switzerland in that the entire trip was spent winding around snow covered mountains. We arrived in Andorra, found our hotel and grabbed some food. We were both exhausted from the long day in the car so we just wandered the streets for a bit and then headed back for a good night’s sleep. Most shops were closed, so we spent ... read more

I LOVE THIS CITY!!!! just by first sight...I remember Sevilla was beautiful and I loved it..I did think Northern Spain wouldnt be as nice but NO!!!!! Barcelona is as clean, and beautiful and vibrant in a very different way!!!!! Really liked the whole feeling of it just in a few hours of arriving!!! Arrived in the hostel and then headed out to the city, saw some of Gaudi´s building.....and WOWOW... Amazing........Amazing.......soooooooo the style I like!! Andorra 2007 After a delayed flight, we missed the only bus that day from France into Andorra, causing us to hire a car and drive. Andorra is a great place for a cheap skiing holiday while in Europe. When we arrived at our apartment there was very little snow, which had us a little worried about the logistics of skiing on a mountain with little snow. Luckily that night, by pure luck it snowed, and snowed bloody heavy! We were ecstatic, we could ski......when I said "we could ski", I mean that there was snow, so technically we had the potential to ski. However for the first hour or two on the mountain, I am not sure what we were doing was actually classed as skiing. I think a better description would be falling down the ... read more

So having breezed through a delightful Portugal we exited back into Espania. Our plan was to head east to Barcelona and what ever we discovered enroute then good luck. Our first stop was Salamanca and as it was raining we only stopped one night. The next morning another English couple, now living in France, were stuck in the mud so Rob assisted them to get out. As they were stuck good n proper we eventually towed them out. Good deed done for the day we headed off. Next stop worth mentioning was Logrono and although it was a quaint town with some good wine shops we bought some rolls for lunch from a bakery and they were Euro 1.40 each, which is very expensive for a roll, although they did feel very heavy. Good thing we ... read more

After a bit of unguided touring of the majority of the roads that lead into and out of Valencia I finally managed to arrive at the rendezvous point where I was due to meet up with Ricardo, the world famous protechnician, to be escorted to his fireworks factory. He now thinks that I'm a little insane after his questioning a little along the lines of; you come to Spain, drive into Valencia with no hotel booking, where did you stay? Yes a nice little hostal in the old part of town. Where did you eat? oh a couple of nice resturaunts around the old town? But you don't speak Spanish, how did you do this? Mate it was OK. How did you get to the America's Cup? Oh on the Metro. You travelled on the Metro, ... read more
