Day five Ricky the rooster did his best to get us up early but we stayed strong! Eventually though it was time to get up and as we say outside watching the storms get closer, Seth and his friend built a lizard house and many Lego things. The heavens opened Thursday with some pretty interesting storms so we decided to go to Foix Castle. A bit of traffic held us up but we found a parking space and looked up..... The castle was very high. We were very low. My exercise averse self questioned the wisdom of our plans but up we went. And up and up, eventually reaching the castle. I'm sure tenth century castle dwellers didn't wear pumps, each cobble felt like a red hot poker but we made it up. The views were ... read more

In Andorra we find we have no mobile phone coverage, which is unexpected for a country in the middle of Europe, but Andorra isn't in the EU and things are a little different here. My Australian Sim does not work at all and my British Sim works but has outrageous charges. Given the size of the country, neither mobile company it seems has cared to setup a full roaming agreeing with Andorra Telecom. For us it makes little difference as we have wifi in the apartment, but is a good reminder to check the small print and be careful. Stories of $1000 roaming bills are a thing of the past but Andorra T sucked up a few pounds of credit I had on my UK sim card before I realised I wasn't using my normal roaming ... read more

Vermits zondag echt wel alles volledig dicht was, bleven ... read more

18thJune 2012 – 23rd June 2012 After a thunderstorm last night and a strange bird that sort of sang all night long we awoke to a fine sunny day. Nearly ran over a pair of lagartos that were lazing in the road, but apart from that, an uneventful journey on the twisty N322 until we reached Balazote, where we picked up some nice straight roman roads and drove across the huge plains of wheat, olive trees and grapevines. Stopped at Tarazona de la Mancha to find a PO and get some shopping and found it to be a very pleasant place, with all roads leading to a central square and church and surrounded by wooden balconied buildings with arches underneath. We stopped at a campsite in Venta de la Contreras, which was down a ... read more

This morning we were treated to sleeping in for an extra half hour, then, after breakfast, Sara took us on an hour long walk to the Old City of Innsbruck and saw and heard about: Hofburg, Empress Mary Theresa’s winter residence and Maximillian’s empty burial vault due to Innsbruck elite denying his request to be buried in Innsbruck and finally being buried outside Vienna. After returning to our hotel, we loaded into the bus to meet with Fritz, a wonderful entrepreneur in the carriage rides, entertainment, and building home and barns for his horses. We met him in the town of Axams and got onto a 12 person modern carriage drawn by four horses and made our way from the center of town to the fields of corn being shucked, the animals, and open country space. ... read more
