So this morning I was jolted back to the reality that I don't actually get to spend all 7 weeks here on the beach. But, the one I did was incredible.
I would say that I would just give you all the highlights, but really, I don't have much else to do right now, so you may end up getting it all whether you like it or not.
So I met Kerry at the airport Monday and we got on another plane to Tobago. Tobago is the little sister island to Trinidad to the east, and is about a 20 minute plane ride, so by the time you take off, you are also landing. Luckily the plane was slightly larger than your average picture of a puddle jumper, because it would have been bad if Kerry had a nervous breakdown on the plane. We made it there just fine to find Heidi and Colleen waiting to take us to our hotel. Conveniently enough, our hotel was directly at the end of the runway so we walked. Since most of the planes are little, it was no big deal that we were so close, but it did make it look

we made sure we got the grill right next to the hot tub. like the planes were literally about to land on us. Heidi and Colleen are good people to keep around, because besides the fact they're freakishly good looking, they got us a great deal at this timeshare beach resort called Sandy Point Beach Club. Our room could have slept 10 people and we had every kitchen utensil known to man, so we were set.
I quickly put on my bathing suit, which pretty much stayed on constantly until last night, and we headed down to check out the hot tubs we would call home and made it just in time for happy hour.
So over the next couple of days we...
-took a tour of the windward, or Southern coast of Tobago on the Atlantic. We realized we were pretty happy we decided against renting a car, seeing how narrow and windy the roads were. The views were gorgeous and the drive was at times a little nauseating. We went on a glass bottom boat ride, went snorkelling and got a big lunch full of good local food at a restaurant built into a tree, all in Speyside. On our way back to Crown Pointe we stopped for a
short little hike in the forest to Argyle waterfalls. Along the way our guide showed us guava to eat, neat little plants and we were all so in love with the smell of the cocoa from the trees surrounding us, that we bought cocoa balls from her. We heard rumors of being able to swing from vines from the highest pool of the waterfall, but mom, you'll be happy to know we had to push just to let her allow us to go the the middle pool. So we left the rest of our group to go play in a waterfall for a bit.
-grilled lots of good food for dinner
-met this group of crazy Canadians who like to cheer "Trinidad and Tobagooooooo" at least 11 times a night and also drove around a maxi taxi (essentially a 15 passenger van) that had a horn similar to the Duke's of Hazzard horn that they honked whenever they saw us on the island. So they gave us some fun times and we got to have fun adding "eh" to the end of everything we said.
-spent large amounts of quality time in each of the 3 hot
tubs and around the pool.
-had ambitious goals to go kayaking, but instead ended up checking out a couple of local beaches, then promptly falling asleep on the beach. We got local food at Store Bay Beach, which I think we all decided was a bit too hot and heavy to be eating when it is sweltering outside, but the crazy birds were quite happy we couldn't eat it all. We then headed on to find another beach, Pigeon Pointe, that is essentially what you would picture when you hear the word paradise. It was a long, hot walk, but the white sand beaches and palm trees that waited for us were well worth it.
-went SCUBA diving! Me and Colleen and Heidi left Kerry sleeping and took two dives one morning. It was both Colleen and my's first dive after certification, so it was pretty exciting. It was just us and two divemasters, so we saw all the sights around Mt. Irvine. I'm sure there were tons of cool things I've just forgotten now, but there were eels, huge angel fish, the spidery crab things and we got to go inside a little cave, which was my

only slightly ironic that it was named Fear Not favorite part.
-drank from coconuts. i don't think you have to say much more than that.
-made hot chocolate with our fresh cocoa balls. we had to sit in the air conditioning to drink it, but it was pretty cool to drink fresh hot chocolate. even if it tasted a tiny bit like dirt.
-and basically just had a grand time.
We had to check out Friday morning, and sadly Heidi and Colleen left us to go home.
So there's a good stopping place for the first half of Tobago. Go get snacks and take a bathroom break, more will be coming.
