Our car arrived in the morning, a good looking Nissan saloon, with fantastic air conditioning and absolutely NO petrol! Mission 1: to find one of the 8 petrol stations on the island and fill up. This was fairly easy as 6 of all 8 petrol stations were within easy reach of the resort. We then looked at the map (possibly the most useless map ever!) and decided to do a round trip of the island. Tobago is a very small island (42km long 10km wide) however none of the roads were straight, and no of them ran very level - the island has lots and lots of steep hills (the highest point is 550m). This meant that our journey around the island took us 5 hours. We stopped at lots of beautiful view points, and ... read more

After a fairly early night and a good sleep we headed to breakfast. It was fab, lots of fruit, cooked brekkie, yoghurt etc mmmmmm. After breakfast we had our briefing from the Virgin rep. We had received a ‘free experience’ and so booked ourselves on a tour for our last full day called the Speyside Safari (saving about $70 each!!). On our way back to the room we booked a hire car with ‘Frankie’s tour’ at £30 a day it was a bargain! We then got our stuff ready to go diving. The dive centre picked us up at 11.30 am and drove us over to the main centre where we kitted up and loaded our kit onto the small boat. We did 2 dives - Fast Drift and Stingray Alley. The drift was fast ... read more

We woke up early - 3.30am and this time it wasnt to take a lorry to London, we were off on HOLIDAY! We arrived at the airport after a fairly pain free journey - one of the first to check in. We had posh tickets- Premium Economy, which meant big seats (a must for Wayne and very nice for me!). As we were the first to check in we managed to get the Exit seats, so had heaps of legroom. We had a lovely cooked b'fast and did some last minute shopping before boarding for the 8 hour flight. 3 films later, lots of drinks and food and we had arrived. The plane landed and we looked out the window to see a turrential downpoar - great! Lets hope it wasnt a sign of the week ... read more

We went to Charlotteville this morning and went into the town for the last time. Next we went to Flag Staff Hill, one of the highest points of Tobago, where you could see the Carribean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. It was beautifully clear. Then we came home for lunch, and finally we set off from the house, for the last time, to go down to the south of the island to the Airport. On the way to the airport, we stopped at a Fort, where we saw some beautiful scenery. By the time we left Tobago, it was dark. The same way we arrived. We never got to see it from the air, but Tobago is a beautiful island, and I would definitely go back. ... read more

We drove to Roxborough, then drove back down to Scarborough where we got tonight's meal. We drove back to Bloody Bay via Hillsborough Dam. We got onto this very rocky and bumpy unmade road and drove quite a distance, and we found the dam, but no water! Mum thought saw a crocodile, but I didn't see it! We drove round in a massive circle and ended up back at Bloody Bay for lunch. We went for our last snorkel off Castara today too (BOOOOHOOOOO) and we saw 3 Stingrays! I think it was a Mum and baby, then a Dad on his own! Awwww the baby was soooooo cute! Then we came home and had tea.... read more

Spent the whole day at Heavenly bay/ Castara beach today. It was really good fun. We played in the sea and snorkelled twice, and we saw a ray! When we got home I looked it up in the tropical fish book and found out that it was a Southern Stingray! We could have got stung! There is a forest fire crackling away just down the road from where we are and I can smell the disgusting smoke! ... read more

We got up quite early and went out on the glass bottom boat! We went all the way to Little Tobago, a much, much smaller island which is also a bird sanctuary. When we got there we snorkelled off the beach and saw some quite nice fish and brain corals. We saw a massive brain coral too, the biggest in the Western hemisphere. It was over 2,000 years old. Next we went to the Angel Reef on the boat. We snorkelled again and saw loads of fish. It was excellent. This afternoon we spent loads of time in the pool, before dressing up and heading out to Marguerite, a restaurant in Castara. It was really nice. When we were in there we saw a man who asked us to come to Heavenly Bay ( our ... read more

We got up quite early and went too the Argyle waterfall. It was very nice. We got there and there were three pools. We started in the lower pool which was very shallow then got REALLY deep. It was very refreshing to swim over the 20ft deep pool to reach the waterfall itself and take a revitalising shower. Next we moved to the middle pool and had another swim. It was much smaller and shallower but the waterfall was much higher up. I had another tropical shower in this waterfall. We didn't bother to go to the top pool. We came back down and went back to the car park. On the way, our guide had told us about the cocoa beans and this leaf that when you rip the bark of the stem off, ... read more

We were originally planning to go on a glass bottom boat to the angel reef, but the car had a flat tyre! So instead we decided too go and explore Parlatuvier, the next village from Bloody Bay. We went down to beach where some more fishermen were fishing. Parlatuvier is quite a fishing community, because there is a jetty, and lots of small fishing boats at the end. We then went to a little store to get some supplies. We also went into a little bread shop and got some bread. When we got home, we decided to go to on a little walk. We took a track above the coastline which was the original road to Parlatuvier from Bloody Bay before the vehicle road was laid. We walked down for about ten minutes , ... read more
