Travel Day:

Travel days are always slightly stressful, making sure we packed everything. The best part of PR is that it is a US territory and JetBlue has convenient non-stop flights. We started off having lunch at Beer Works in the airport, not a bad meal and everyone is always so excited to begin our trip when we are at the airport. When we boarded the flight a couple of girls on their way to a wedding were split up by our family. We usually book the middle and aisle seats across from each other and they had both windows, so we told them we would switch. Jeff had both kids with him and I sat next to the girls, it was fun listening to them talk about getting married.

The kids were awesome on the flight, Jeff and I had several rum and cokes and felt real good when we landed. Getting our luggage was a breeze, we caught a cab and we off to our hotel - the Marriott Stellaris.

Driving up to the hotel is always so exciting, just wondering if it is going to live up to our expectations. It's that first impression that you will never forget, and this one didn't disappoint. The hotel is in the middle of a San Juan neighborhood with lots of shops and restaurants and the buildings are very close together like you see in a typical urban location. The cabbie was taking lots of side streets and when we finally came out of a small street we looked up and the Marriott was up on a hill in front of us. When the cab drops you office, the bell boys welcome you and get your luggage. The lobby is really nice the casino is on your right, a nice bar/lounge in the center, and the check in desk to the left. We were really excited because we booked a junior suite with our points and couldn't wait to see what is was like.

Our experience in Montreal made us realize that we needed a larger room with Izzy waking up so early. So we were able to book a one room junior suite using our Marriott points (one perk of traveling for work). After I checked in we were told we were on the top floor and off we went to go explore. First we decided

to take a quick look at the pool, then check out the room and then grab dinner at the hotel restaurant. We were starving and didn't think exploring the area was a good idea after traveling all day with the kids. The pool, beach, and restaurant were located on a lower floor from the lobby so we walked down a beautiful large staircase down to the pool and beach area. It was dark so we couldn't go down on the beach but the pool looked pretty cool. The pool had some fountains in the top section and was a shallow zero entry then there was a waterfall down to the lower area of the pool where there was a swim up pool bar and hot tub. Only one bad thing, the water slide was closed for refurbishment (this would prove to be a bigger challenge than originally expected with our constantly having to entertain Jake). After a quick tour of the pool we got into the elevator and up to our room. To get the top floor you had to press the Penthouse button and the kids got a real kick out of it. They were getting so excited thinking

we got the penthouse. When you exit the elevator it brings you into a hallway where all of the suites are located so there were only 6-8 rooms on the top floor.

When you first enter you walk into an entry way with high ceilings, to the right is the bathroom, and straight ahead was the bedroom with a large king size bed. To the left of the entryway is the living room with a round high top dining table, desk with chair, a pullout couch and TV. All of the curtains were closed and encircled the entire living room area and the wrap around balcony was to die for! The view was unbelievable you had a view of both the beach and the city! You can enter the balcony from both the living room and the bedroom, oh and did I mention the robes? In the bathroom were two plush white robes with slippers. These were a big hit that kids put on every night when we got back to the hotel from our many adventures. They were definitely living the life.

After exploring the exploring the hotel room I was so hungry and everyone was getting a little grumpy that we decided it was time for some dinner. The restaurant at the hotel had a nice dinner buffet. Izzy decided to be adventurous and have pigeon pea soup - which she ate. She actually loves soup. Always has. I think she's just a lazy eater and likes things in liquid form. Dinner wasn't bad for a hotel buffet. After dinner we went for a night swim. Kids had a great time but were a little grumpy so it didn't last long. We headed back up to the room for a little down time before lights out. We made the couch into the pull out bed and the kids watched Spongebob for a few minutes then we all fell fast asleep.
