!Hola todos!
I'm here alive in beautiful and HOT Panama City. We got in late saturday night after 1am and after sorting out immigration at the airport the 15 of us that had the same flight were picked up by a bus that took us the 40-min drive to our little part of the city. There's 5 houses of 6 people each (26 McGilligans and 4 Panamanians) and they're actually huge and really nice! Our professor had stocked our fridges with beer and some food so we had a little kitchen party, unpacked a bit and crashed. I slept with no sheets and the windows fully open and a fan on blast and was just cool enough to sleep. Today we woke up and ate fresh watermelon, coconut and drank fresh fruit juice in the sun on our front patio surrounded by palm trees and other gorgeous foliage. After we had a very crowded, loud and fun trip into the city to buy some stuff for the house and returned just in time to meet our prof and hop on a bus to the Summit National Park just north of the city. We took a hike through a jungle (JUNGLE!) and ended at a little waterfall in a gorge that we were able to swim in. We came back to a welcome dinner with our prof Daviken. Classes start tomorrow so we're hanging out in our houses, finishing reading the articles for tomorrow or out on our patios & hammocks. I haven't stopped sweating yet but they say it takes a few days for our bodyies to adjust to the heat. How's the weather in Canada? I know it's crap because my flight was almost grounded because of a snow storm. I'm not missing that right now!
Love!

Hi Lachlan, I am disappointed in your gloating, while I am stuck in a cold snap ;) Sounds wonderful, and right up your alley, lots of learning, a novel experience and paradise to boot. Love you and miss you, Steve
