I want to thank you for your messages!! It is so terrific to hear from you and makes me feel not so far away from home.

I am currently abstaining from consuming bananas and rice, a staple here in Panama but not two foods I am accustomed to eating at every meal. The way rice and bananas are cooked is delicious however my body does not agree causing me to bloat like a balloon. But it IS the lesser of two stomach evils for ravelers, I expect.

What I have learned being here:

Electric is about $10 a month.

Teachers must work 2 years before being paid a measly check

Beer costs as much as bus fare

I can get a whole load of laundry done for $3 (wash, dried and folders and the smell wonderful)

You can pay someone to do almost anything or you here in Panama such as go to the DMV for you. Now how awesome would that be in the USA?

Horns on cars will wear out before brakes

It is normal to scream at the bus driver to “SLOW DOWN!”

No one walks the streets typing on their cell.

Yogurt comes in exotic fruit flavors from cantelope, papaya, guava and prune (I have been abusing the last flavor in hopes of miracle)

The word DOG in Spanish and the word BUT sound the same and have made for some strange conversations.

Egg yolks are bright orange- fresh from the farm

Don’t drink the Water

Murphy Law translates into every culture
