Leon
A stop-off Nicaragua + Costa Rica - 7 Weeks
I crossed into
Nicaragua with a friend and spent 4 weeks checking out the country.
First we went to Leon and did very little then we went to the tiny coastal town of Poneloya. As we arrived we discovered the only hotel was too expensive and had a monkey tied up in the garden, I refused to stay there and we got lucky and stayed with a local.
Managua was just a stop off on the way to Granada and I spent some time here as it was very pleasant. From Granada, I traveled over land to the Carribbean Corn islands and it took 3 days to travel via a bus and a couple of boats and for this reason, after a week on the island, I took a cheap flight back to do the same journey in 45 minutes. From Granada again, I took another boat to one of the volcanic islands, Ometepe, in the Lago de Nicaragua to climb the volcano and spend some time chilling on a farm.
After the island I used San Juan del Sur as another stop-off on the way

Poneloya
The port, like Singaporeto Costa Rica.
I was in
Costa Rica for 3 weeks and visited 3 places.
The first was Playa del Coco where I gave myself a birthday treat of 3 great dives where I bumped into 4 sharks my size, a manta ray and schools of lesser spotted rays, amongst other things. I then spent 2 weeks in the beach town of Montezuma before a couple of days in San Jose.
