Finally we blog...cant believe its been a month already...1 to go
The path so far...Managua / Pochomil / Granada / Laguna de Apoyo / Isla de Ometepe / Corn Islands
Managua, nothing to say except that it sucks, overpriced and none to pleasant. We whisked off to Pochomil right away, a small beach town on the Pacific. Basically had the whole beach to ourselves, a definite perk of travelling in the off season. Stayed for a couple of days then some Nica gangster fags decided to get the room beside us and be obnoxious, the newly arrived bad vibe sent us packing.
Off to Granada which is a super chill little Spanish Colonial gem in the heart of country. Wicked architecture, restaurants and dam good espresso...when you find good coffee when your away you take full advantage of it. Stayed there for a couple of days then we went to a place called Laguna de Apoyo which was absolutely amazing, plus we splurged a little in a nice place. Imagine...a crystal clear warm water lake, inside a dormant volcano, surrounded by lush jungle...ya, plus we had our own private swimming dock and the three dogs we adopted, theres
Laguna de Apoyo
our private dock and my ass crack a pic of Rosa.
Then we went back to Granada for a couple of days and met up with some other Canadians and we all went to a place called Isla de Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. The island, the largest lake island in the world is basically made up of two volcanoes, one still active. Stayed in a cool place and chilled out and swam for a couple of days.
Back to Granada where we learned a new game that we are bringing back home with us called *Beer Pong* no questions, you will see when we return. We spent Canada Day super hung over, thanks to beer pong, and on a whim, as every single one of our plans have been made, decided to buy two flights to the Corn Islands in the Carribean.
Corn Islands, fuckin paradise, the unfortunate thing is that Teri got infected with some super fever bug the day we arrived and then passed the little bastard on to me, so we spent 4 looooooooong sweaty, naggy nights in hell, in paradise. Nasty. However, we recouperated, thank god and enjoyed the palce which is by far, for both of us the absolute
most beautiful place we have ever been to. Sent time snorkelling, eating $5 lobster, drinking $1 beer, lounging in our $20 beach side shack. Just look at the pics, needless to say, well worth the flight costs, would have even been better had Teri not caught the Ebola virus and tainted out first couple of days.
Now we are in San Juan del Sur and are starting the surfing portion of our trip of which we are excited. Off to Playa Madera tomorrow for how long, who knows cause we make plans in the spur of the moment, but that place has the countrys best beach break so it might be a while...
Other than that, Nicaragua has been amazing. Super cheap and amazing people. The places we have been to have been awesome. Plus just having the time to sit, or lounge, or hammock and waste away the man made invention of time is nice...it sooths the brain.
