...Honeymoon cruise continued! (Forgive my lack of detail, I'm posting this in 2014.) We ported in Falmouth, Jamaica and took an excursion to Dunn's river falls This was a neat place where the falls connect to the sea on the beach. We started at the bottom and climbed out way up. The staff is very friendly and helpful and has several photo areas where they will take your picture for you in the water. (For free, with the hopes of tips later.) I chickened out about half-way through and exited to watch from the observation areas. (I have a track record of being the only one to fall in the water... see my Dominica entry from 2010!) Jason braved on without me, lol! Afterwards we visited Dolphin Cove where we were able to hold/feed some birds, ... read more

The peace and tranquility that Rachel and I have been enjoying was shattered on Sunday evening, with the arrival of parents, cousins, an Auntie and two children seemingly powered by Duracell! And what great fun it has been. Callum and Georgia are five and eight and to say they have kept us on our toes is an understatement! Sunday 8th August started with a walk around Ocho Rios and the craft market where we bought the children a small welcome to Jamaica gift. It was a lovely day and we were soon back at the villa relaxing by the pool and learning the basics of dominoes from the grand master of the game... Floyd! We really enjoyed and have purchased ourselves a dominoes set for when we get home. So, if anyone fancies a game let ... read more

Today was a very long, but very fun day. We started off by waking up early, 8:30 am, slathering on some sunscreen, swimsuits, and beach towels, and heading down to meet our tour bus by 9. The bus left promptly and we were on our way to Ocho Rios for a long day. It took about an hour to an hour and forty five minutes by bus to get from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios, but this is only because the highway is two lane and the speed limit is 80 KPH aka 50 MPH aka SLOW. Once we arrived we went to two souvenir shopping centers and spent too much money. Then we went to a crafter's market, which was one of the strangest experiences I've ever had. These people live in extreme poverty here ... read more

Day 2 Jamaica Finally after a rough day at sea we are in calmer waters. Woke up at about 7:00 a.m. and saw land. We were in for an adventure today. Up close and personal with dolphins and then the climb up Dunn River Falls. We had an hour to kill before our dolphin adventure so took a walk on the beach. The waves were beautiful as was the color of the water. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures with the dolphins; the handlers took pictures for you and then wanted to sell them, 4 for 20 bucks. But the encounter was awesome. The 4 of us got soaked but got to touch and kiss the dolphins and watch them do tricks in the water. I have attached some pictures that I was able ... read more

Today we took an excursion with Raymond , our rasta driver, highly recomended by our friends. He entertained us by playing reggae videos and singing along all the while pointing out the sites on the tourist trail. Like the newest, Usain Bolt's grade school. Accomanied by a story about how he gave him a Puma shirt years ago. We stoped for a photo op at Rose Hall Plantation , checked out Discover Bay where Colombus first landed ( Yes Jamacia is yet another knotch in CC's belt, he's been everywhere!) commerated of course with a bar called Seavibes along with an obligatory sign and a glimpse into the daily Jamacian life : goats and cows feeding on the side of the road, a man selling fish on a string , shacks and tents selling barrel chicken ... read more

I had a lovely day in Jamaica today. Jody and I went on a tour to Dunns River Falls. I'd been there before, about 5 years ago. when I went on a cruise as a passenger. It was my favourite thing we did that week. So I've been wanting to go back. And Jody hadn't been. So thanks to the fabulous people in shore ex, we got tour passes. The falls are only about a 5-10 minute drive from the pier, but we went by catamaran. It was so nice to just lie out in the (super hot!) sunshine and sail along. Calm, relaxing . . . it soothed my soul. Looking across the water to the lush-covered island, you're reminded of how lucky you are to be there. I'm grateful. Dunns River Falls is 600+ ... read more

Well my little hobos, what stories i have to tell you this time! None too surprisingly, most of the interesting things that happen to me seem to have happened in Jamaica, and today was no exception. After a marathon, and I do mean marathon drinking session (finished about 5am but ONLY because the booze ran out) I picked myself off of the floor (yes nicky it happened again!), staggered back to my cabin and lay very still on the bed. At least now I have an excuse for the room spinning... Im on a ship so it MUST be the ship and not me thats drunk. anyhoo, what seemed like 10 seconds later (actually 5 hours) I get a phonecall from my crazy Polish buddy from down the hall reminding me that we were going to ... read more
