We woke up this morning with the sun of course, since we are outside. The cutest thing was waking up with Tiki sleeping at Geoff's feet. It makes me miss Eddie. So sweet.
Sleeping outside was super fun but the dew of the morning was really wet. It seemed like it had rained a bit even though I know it didn't because I looked at the stars all night. Oh well, worth it for the view.
This morning we made our first George Bowl's since home. Modifiied of course, but still pretty good. Then it was basically: well what do you want to do with your own island for the day?
Pretty simple day really. Snorkel around the island, read, nap, play with Tiki, make grilled ham & cheese, make rum drinks, drink beer, journal, read, stare at ocean, stare at horizon, stare at sand, eat chips & homemade salsa (I made it), watch pelicans fish, watch pelicans on the dock, and so on. Almost all things were done in the nude. It's really great having your own island.
The day went by too quickly & before we knew it we were watching the sunset. We watched from
Geoff & Tiki waking up....
All thanks to me & my picture taking! the dock for awhile. Looking into the water from there we saw a Spotted Eel, a Trunkfish, many Needlefish, and Parrotfish. A busy, active reef. One of the local fisherman stopped by (we put clothes on when we saw his boat!) & netted up a bunch of "fry" as he called them. All the little tiny fish that swim in the shallows. They use them as bait for fishing. He said the island has a nice cove where they like to hang out.
We had leftover fish & curry for dinner. I made way too much for two people last night. Tiki sat with us at the table & gave us lots of love eyes in hopes of getting more fish. Silly kitty.
The sand flies were a bit intense this afternoon so we didn't spend as much time outside after sunset as we would have liked. Those little suckers are vicious. You can't see them, they sting only upon biting & they itch like crazy!! Geoff looks like he has chickenpox practically. So we enjoyed the stars this evening from the upstairs deck. We decided to sleep inside tonight & utilize the ceiling fan. It's hot! Another
lovely night in paradise.
Oh, and of course we had to go out after dark & watch the invasion of the hermit crabs. Those guys are seriously so entertaining. I've never seen so many in one area. We were just cracking up like little kids about it again tonight. When they move around on the ground it almost looks like the ground itself is moving. It's seriously nutsola.
Right after hermit crab invasion watching we did a quick recon mission around the island to pick up all of our things that we had managed to scatter all around the island & outside the house. We can really move in quickly & spread our things out like we intend to stay awhile. We were laughing about that too. Then off to bed. Sadly we have to leave tomorrow. Although where we're going next doesn't really suck either, so can't complain too much.
