Hi all hope all well.
The weeks seem to be going quick while being a beach bum in Utila, reading in the sun, snorkling, kayaking etc saw a 3 foot wide ray swim under my kayak the other day, unfortunately no camera on me.
Starting to go a little black now and blend in with the natives lol
The island has become quieter again now Semana Santa over, prefer it quieter.
Andy and Char gone on their travels plus Tim and Helen have gone to La Ceiba and then Guatemala, hoping to meet up with them in Panama City 25th to 27th.
Heard someone talking in La Pirata and they said some dude got shot in Guatemala and there was a travel warning, think US travel warning.
Had two leaving barbies at the station for the guys mentioned above.
6 new volunteer arrivals this week, Near from Israel, Emily, Fran, Katie, Katherine from England.
Although think Katherine off this week as not to keen on the station!
I kayak to the public beach to chill with them on the beach some days and to go snorkeling.
All
the volunteers came to mine for a barby Sunday night, lot of people to squeeze on the porch. lol
Think I could quite easily live on an island like Utila, in fact you could bum around on one for a year for less than 10k!
Life is chilled, weather fantastic, local people seem nice, no hustle and bustle like home plus cheap to live, downer is obviously don’t have your mates and family here. Oh well possibly an option at the end of my travels!
Would like to do my fun dives before I go (owed 2 from my PADI course) but now my ear cleared up not sure I want to risk it so will prob not do :0( oh well can go later in my travels now all PADI ‘d up!
Strange how did not seem long ago that I was thinking how the 12 weeks would go, especially not having been away for such a length of time, yet now it feels like I am on a 2 weeks vacation with one week left, although I wont be going home. Lol
John at La Pirata gave me
a decent baseball cap, hooray! Also lent me a book about coral reefs and some dvd’s to watch, John is cool.
Spooky really as the book he lent me talks about population growth and impact of humans on coral reefs and what the impact will be to us all when they finally die off! Seems to be a theme to any book I read at the moment even the thriller I am reading at the moment “The Doomsday Key”.
Maybe I am destined to become an eco warrior! lol
Was down the beach the other day and Terry came walking along, called to him and he came legging it into the sea and swam towards me lol.
He met Princessa later when he came with some of the volunteers who had popped to mine for a beer after the beach.
Gutted I did not see the Pompey game, put my shirt on and went to Pirata only to find the game was not being televised on SKY Mexico, even though they showed the other semi on sat?!
Seen the pictures on facebook looks wicked.
Quite amazing
eh relegated one day and through to the FA Cup final the next! Well done pompey! Hope Andy got to see the game, he was a spurs fan! Lol
Anyway still alive and ready to move on next week and looking forward to South America and all its wonders!
