Get Me My Snorkel Today was a lazy day. We headed out to the beach and managed to snag chairs under one of the umbrellas. Which was good because I think I turned about 20 shades darker on my legs that were not covered. We did hit the water with snorkels and headed down the beach some. The beach really is so pretty and clear. The reef is not far off the shore either. I did manage to go out and check out the coral this time. Saw a puffer fish, some of those blue/green fish, and a red fish. A claims he saw a clown fish but I didn't see it on the camera shots. I bought him a waterproof bag one year for the camera so we got to try it out. Taxi! Took ... read more

Vacation Time Again Up early to head to the airport, but not because we were going standby this time. Yes, we bought tickets, and on the competition. They were the only straight from Houston flight onto the island. Thanks to @coco_reid we will be spared the pain of returing from spending money to pay for 7 days of parking. Also for paying for a Rusty stay too. A was unimpressed with ABIA, especially when he heard there were no chain restaurants. So no mcgriddle to start the vacation. At Houston I got the pleasure of seening 4 grown people wearing ridiculously large clown sunglasses. why oh why, and wait for it, they got on our plane. Sorry - Having problems with photos so will post them on facebook. OK – it’s now the 18thand we get into Honduras – or a tiny island of Honduras – tomorrow and it is to be a “chill out” day on and around the beach so hopefully we can find a decent internet café from where I can send this missive and attach a few photographs. Also send Mum a Happy Mothers Day greeting albeit a little belatedly. Note to boys – maybe read the messages you have sent me (hahahahahaha – no doubt doing the French one again – that is until the French one arrives). On the 16th March we transited the Panama Canal. It was a really great experience and a fab day. Scott thought it started a little bit too early as ... read more

Today brings us near the end of our stay in Roatan. It was a fairly quiet week, but we seemed to do a little of everything. We had four days of cloud and rain off and on which made for puddles all over but we manged to survive! Other than that we have had the perfect tropical weather. A highlight for me on Roatan as you probably have gathered is the easily accessible and amazing snorkelling. I can't even count the number of times we've ventured into the beautiful blue ocean. With the reef within swimming distance all around the island, it's always ready and available. The water is crystal clear, the coral is beautiful and varied and there is an abundance of sea life. We've met some new friends who live on the island 6 ... read more

Hello fellow readers! This week we took a tour of the east end of the island with Lisa. It was great in that she is a wealth of information about all areas of the island. Also, the places we saw and experienced are kind of off the beaten path, that the average tourist wouldn't see. Our first stop was "Sandy Bay" where we watched the dolphins frolick for a few minutes at Anthony's Key. Next we continued on to French Harbour which is the second largest city and the educational center of the island. Cruise ships dock here as well as it is a center for international shipping. The next stop was fun! - The Iguana Farm - The family that runs it started out with one iquana as a pet and ended up with literally ... read more

We've had another great week on Roatan. Each brings new discoveries and experiences! Early on in the week we took a water taxi to West Bay which is the next beach south of where we are living. The area is one of the loviest beaches we have seen with pure white sand and crystal clear water. The only down side is that it's very touristy with lots of resorts and hoards of people from the cruise ships spending the day. In saying that, you can't beat the superb snoreklling with the reef only 100 meters from the shore. The coral and fish were amazing. We enjoyed a lunch of conch ceviche and fries and taxied back around 5. It is interesting to watch the construction going on the main sand road in West End. They are ... read more

Our ride across the main land of Honduras to Roatan via the Galaxy Wave was a turning point in our adventure. We are back to what would be considered the "typical traditional vacation." Beaches, swimming, restaurants, shops - many other tourists and a selection of day tours. I won't go into too much detail about this leg of the trip because it's just that - a normal vacation (pictures posted in next blog). On the other hand, I will reflect and provide more details about the cities as it seems to have drummed up a lot of inquiries from concerned friends, family members. Now that you know we are back to normalcy and safe - here goes. Along the way, we enjoyed some touristy destinations such as Granada and San Juan Del Sur and then stopped ... read more
