Hej! Mycket ... read more

Hej!

So here I am... still in Roatan. The Ferry was cancelled due to high winds and rough waters. It's been stormy here since yesterday. So another couple nights in Roatan. Let me catch you up on what's been happening yet again: Christmas Eve: Awesome night! The night dive was spectacular. It was a little scary at first. Just the thought of not being able to see everything around you was a little frightening... not to mention that they were talking about having seen a HUGE jelly fish on the last night dive they did. Once we got in the water though, it wasn't so scary. We went down just as the sun had set but no stars were out yet. You could still kind of see. There were 7 of us including Ryan, each carrying a ... read more

Ok so I totally can't believe it's Christmas Eve Day. Wow. I did find time to come back to this internet cafe though, so let me catch you up on what's been happening the past 2 days. Yesterday was our day trip to Barbaretta. OH MY GOSH! What a day. Totally worth the $120 I paid for it. We left around 8:30am, set off in the boat (there were 9 of us plus Ryan, the instructor), and no more than 15 minutes later Mr. T. (a guy on the boat) and I spot dolphins! Alvin (the owner of the hotel and dive shop) slowed down the boat and we just waited. There were about 10 of them and they all swam up pretty close to the boat. Mr. T. and the German dude slipped in the ... read more

Hey friends and family! I'm currently in an internet cafe, being charged by the minute... eeek! I just wanted you to all know that I'm safe and having a wonderful vacation so far in Roatan. My hotel is literally 10 steps from the dive shop. They're owned by the same people. I have a room in the main house. The upstairs of the main house is where the owners live with their kids, and then our rooms downstairs are just rooms off of the wrap around porch that goes around the entire house. My room is small and simple, but perfect for what I need... and only $12US a night! The smell reminds me of the wood cabins at Bimini... oh the memories! The showers are cold and it's a shared bathroom but I've never had ... read more

Roatan on the fast The most desired 'excursion' (cruise lingo for something to do on land) was unfortunately full-up in Honduras. The Roatan Segway beach tour filled to capacity only 3 minutes after tickets were released, and well before I had the opportunity to snag a spot. (Segways are the new age people movers the work based on balance- check the microsoft campus for more info/sightings) Instead I bartered for the next best in the two wheeler category. After some bidding with the local mafioso, we arranged for some scooters, (as he hasslehoffed the native ladies, who didn't seem to much to appreciate and or absorb his slazy (combo-word) persona.) 20 bucks later John and I (my cousin of near exact age) were on our way. To where you ask? At the time and even to ... read more

Today, Hula Girl fell in love with the windy beaches of Roatan, Honduras. She got a full body massage, and chilled with some locals. Her first waves of resentment towards bartel hit her like the waves of the ocean crashing in front of her, why did he keep her locked up for so long? why not explore the world? All was soon forgotten, as she was liberated by this new sense of freedom, possibly aided by her first real pina colada. ... read more

Que Pasa Chicos? My trip is coming to a wonderful close. We are tucked away on the beautiful carribbean island of Roatan. Unfourtunately, November is the rainy season and we havn't had all that nice weather. This weekend is sopposed to be nice though. I am offically a PADI open water certified scuba diver! I finished my course today. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing Scuba Diving is. I am usually a little cautious when it comes to water but I felt completely comfortable down there at 65 feet scuba-ing around. It is so surreal to see a gigantic reef wall with the most beautiful fish swimming around. Everything is quiet except for the sound of your own breathing and the bubbles you make as you exhale. I remember watching my mother play ... read more

C'etait Super! Hola, We have made it to Roatan in the Bay Islands after a long 7 hour bus ride and a 2 hour ferry. THe bus was first class though, so it had AC and a movie. It was much better than the Greyhounds in the US. The sun is really hot here in Roatan. THe weather everywhere else has been 70's but now we are on the coast in the lowlands and it is HOT! We splurged and got the room with the A/C. Unfortunately, the electric company, which runs on power generated from a large deisel engine, turns off the electricity in town occassionally to conserve. Tomorrow we will take a refresher Scuba course in the morning and do a dive in the afternoon. Today, we will do a little snorkeling. There is a beach ... read more
