first day went from L.A. to tucson AZ where i stayed at my the house of my friends greg and his family

next day went south across border at nogales, eventually encountering the immigration-aduana
where a six month visa can be obtained for 30 dollars and a six month vehice permit will set you back 39 dollars

heading south on mexico´s toll roads, there were frequent toll booths

where tolls so far have been as high as 9dollars for 50 miles.

about 250 miles south of border is hermosillo, MX, where i choose the plaza hotel

where a single room ran 40 dollars. but parking was secure. that parking security take precedence over comfort and price considerations.

The jacket i´m wearing

made a hot day even hotter but i consider it necessary unless absolutely impossible.

stopped for lunch here and that guy behind my bike,
probably has a sour expressiong on his
face cuz he just hit me up for money at the restaurant table and i only gave him fifty centavos...which is like a nickel.

The price of gas is significantly less than los angeles.

At 7 pesos per liter, it comes out to about 2.80 per gallon.
This is the spartan digs at a 26$ single motel roomin Los Mochis. Mochis is a big tourist town since it is the starting-ending point for the famous copper canyon railway which traverses the barranca de cobre. (been down around the depths of the canyons on a past summer trip with a bmw f650)
