Here's the plan: I leave September 1st, go down to San Diego, cross that border, and then I'm in Mexico! I'll go down Mexico to Central America, go through all the countries there, then into South America. I want to make it to Rio di Janero in Brazil by Carnival, to meet some very good friends. We'll see what kinds of adventures I have...

Well, now I'm back. I finally did make it to Rio, ten months later. I had the most amazing and unexpected adventures in between, during, and after. In the end, I went to 16 countries, and traveled for 13 months. It feels good to be ... full info

Canyon del Sumiderocanyon again--this shrine was in a cave, and you had to first climb a rope to get up to it, then a ladder the rest of the way. We just gaped at it from below, amazing devotion.
