Ateos is a poorer area, 35km out of San Salvador. Marists are involved in the parish primary school, called San Antonio and the Secondary Technical School called Jesus the Worker Technical Institute. The Brothers came to the area in 1987. They live a little further out at the base of the nearby mountains.
