This is the day we start the Mona Passage. For those of you not familiar with the area, it is the body of water between the eastern end of the DR and the western end of Puerto Rico. It has a reputation for being a difficult body of water due to currents moving from the Atlantic side (north) to the Caribbean (south). When these currents are combined with strong prevailing winds, one can expect big seas and uncomfortable conditions.

We have reviewed every weather resource we have available and all predict milder than usual winds and seas. So we are off and will be on the southwest coast of Puerto Rico tomorrow noon.
