The "main drag"
Where the restaurants, gym, spa and shop are. Today I did a lot of nothing and it was great!
Started off with breakfast at the buffet restaurant. They have a huge selection of things so if you can't find something to eat then you must be very picky. Really good fruit, some ok waffles, pastries, eggs, fish, cheeses, meats and a ton of things I had no clue on. Also some fresh made juices, I had cantaloupe.
First stop after breakfast was to the lobby to schedule my Covid test. Hopefully this is the only trip I will ever take that I need to do this. There was a desk in the lobby to make the appointments but no one staffed it the two days I was there. Finally someone came and told us to go to the medical center, which was just a room down a hall. There I was able to make my appointment for the following morning. The test cost $35 and I was to get the results the same day. Step one of Covid testing complete.
Second stop, the beach. The resort has a large stretch of beach with a lot of sand and a few rocks. There were lots of chairs
under shelters but every chair was already claimed with a towel. Certain sections are also reserved for those who paid for the Privelege status, which gets you some special restaurants and a butler and apparently your own beach areas. Just beyond the resort is a really nice cove with lots of white sand and clear water. I normally do not like going in the ocean because you never know what could sting/eat you but there were no jellies washed up on shore and other people in the water so I went for it. So refreshing and relaxing! There were some little silver fish but otherwise nothing in the water except the occasional seaweed. I could have bobbed around all day! But I eventually got out, dried off in the sun and wandered down the rest of the beach to get in a walk. The sun was hot so back in the water I went to cool off. If I had a shady spot for my towel I could have stayed all day. Since I didn't I eventually wandered back to my room to change and get lunch.
Back to the buffet (really the only lunch option) where I had
a hard time deciding. Pasta, pizza, fish, salad, chips and various salsas, rice, beans, meats, etc. And the desserts! The only complaint again was the drink service. My water was filled a bit after I sat down and I asked for a lemonade. Once that came I never got a refill of either drink. Again, could be worse.
I spent the rest of the afternoon in the hanging chair on my balcony reading and listening to the music coming from the pool. Once it hit 4:00 I called about changing rooms. this was a bit of a process. Once I finally got someone at the front desk they sounded confused and then said they would put me on hold while they changed my room. 20 minutes later I was disconnected, called back, got the room number I was going to and was told to wait for the bellboy. An hour later a guy came and we were off. I moved from building 7 to building 9. I could now see the ocean from the balcony and did not face a pool so it was a bit quieter when sitting outside. Did some more reading and then took the longer
walk to the restaurant area. I decided on the Italian place because the line for the steakhouse was super long. Turns out, the filet at the Italian place was delicious and I didn't have to wait a long time for it to arrive.
I stopped at the ice cream stand and enjoyed some kind of chocolate ice cream in the plaza where some little kids were dancing to the music playing through the speakers. There were a lot of little kids at the resort and they all seemed to be having a great time.
Finished the evening sitting out on the balcony, enjoying the quiet and the breeze.
