Another place we have discovered to kayak, snorkel, or just enjoy the
sun is Biesanz Beach. This is off the beaten path and is not so crowded
as the main beach at Manual Antonio. To get there the cheapest route
is to take the bus and get off across from Milagro Restaurant and Bar.
Walk down the street past Emilios and there will be a sign pointing
either to the main Playa to the left or Playa Biesanz to the right down a
winding road past Shana Hotel to an opening leading down to Playa
Biesanz. You will see cars parked along the side of the road and men
directing you where to park. So of course driving to this area is a
possibility as well as taking a taxi. The walk back up to catch the bus
might be worth a ride up!

When you get down to the beach you
will find vendors selling umbrellas and beach chairs, snorkeling
equipment, kayaks, standup paddles, food and drink. We used Big Al who
has kayaks, single and tandem, standup paddles, chairs/umbrellas and
soft drinks. The most amazing thing this year was that he takes credit
cards!

We paddled out toward Marina Pez Vela and Naoemi Park.
Along the way you see snorkelers, people swimming and some boats that
have brought people to the area to snorkel. Based on your abilities,
this is a good area to paddle without the crowds.

The kayaking
was great fun and we were rewarded with sloth sighting on the beach near
Big Al's and on the way back up a mother with baby sloth right off the
path as well as the linneated woodpecker.

Dinner that night was a
Barba Rosa in Manual Antonio. It was another great place for sunset
views as well as live music the night we were there. The food was also
very nice.
