Buenas Dias,

NB you have to scroll down for other photos as the blog software spaces based on text......

I did not expect to write a blog so soon, however a lot happened already in first few days and have some spare time and internet!

Flight from UK went reasonably smoothly, lucky me and my knee had an emergency exit seat so more than enough leg room.

Took off an hour late and 11 hours later when arriving at San Jose we had to circle for an hour due to some low storm clouds, which resulted in a bumpy landing, had worse.

Wish I had some of the magic potion that Dawn Tottle put on my leg....

Checked into hotel near airport for the night then taxi to Dennys at 0515 to meet my shuttle to Liberia en route to Playa Cabuyal (Turtle project).

There was only myself, an American girl called Summer and our driver Eric. Mini van also had wifi, hence FB posts on journey.

Turns out there had been a tropical storm depression (Nate) over Central America, dumping

cute!
lots of rain, they reckon 11 inches!

The storm was approx. 4 times larger than CR!

They put the country on red alert with floods from rivers, mudslides, fallen trees and boulders.

Took a few pictures en route!

We tried several routes but roads blocked by trees and landslides, then found a route open but after 2 hours shuttle operator told driver to head back as too dangerous.

Some bridges had river water levels up to the bridge with reports of crocs walking about!

Funny thing is I found it quite enjoying and exciting, not cheesed off at all that had to turn back, I am here for adventures not a holiday lol!

Approx 20 people dead across Central America :o(

So we headed back to San Jose, shuttle had picked me up at 0530 and we were back at 0900, exciting but my knee was now achy.

Booked into another hotel near airport for 2 nights, hot showers, wifi, pizza, beer and knee rest!

The staff who were there when I arrived did not speak English but we managed to understand each other, even with my limited Spanish, lol such nice friendly people :o)

Went for a couple mile walk this morning, first time I have seen blue sky, was constantly raining since I landed. Knee fine ish.

Rebooked shuttle for Sat morning but waiting for confirmation, pick up point 15 mins walk so gonna try to walk there tomorrow morning.

Wont have internet access for a week or two, so goodbye until then.

Adios

:o)
