Today we are off to Chicago to another home exchange. This will be our fifth home exchange this year! We have always wanted to see Chicago, so now is our chance.
We were up at 3:30 am, as we had a taxi coming at 4:30 am. The taxi arrived 45 minutes early, but we were organized and ready to go by 4:00 am. This trip we are flying with Delta. Once checked in we used our Black MasterCard and visited the airport lounge. The plane boarded on time, but once we were all buckled in they announced they could not leave due to volcanic ash on the runway. Turrialba Volcano has been spewing out ash off and on for the past week, and this morning it happened again! We waited 1 1/2 hours before Delta decided it was safe enough to fly. Volcanic ash can be very harmful to plane engines. Once in the air we had good service and were even service a fresh ham and cheese bun and chocolate bar. We had a two hour layover in Atlanta before continuing onto Chicago. At the airport we used our Uber app and had our first Uber experience. We had a nice gentleman drive us the one hour into the city. The lights of the city were amazing as you got closer to the city.
Our exchange home is a condo on the eleventh floor of a luxury complex at Navy Pier right on Lake Michigan. The condo has floor to ceiling windows throughout and the views are amazing! The condo is very modern and a nice layout. We got settled and then headed out for dinner to a place on Navy Pier. Giordano's is a famous for its deep dish pizzas. We ordered one of them and were not disappointed. Delicious! Then it was back to the condo and bed!
