So this weekend was amazing! We went on a rafting trip to Pacuari on the Caribbean side on saturday. Max class IV, it was nice and relaxing. There were so many beautiful views and waterfalls! I got lots of comments like "Rastafari!" and "Rasta, rasta!"....always fun. Anyways, afterward five of us decided that we wanted to take an impromptu trip to Cahuita for the night and next day, so our bus driver dropped us off about 300 meters from a bus stop and we jumped on the next bus to Puerto Limon. That city, by the way, is really gross and the pollution is absolutely horrendous, probably because it is a a major port city. After we arrived we walked another couple hundred meters and jumped on a bus to Cahuita. We got to Cahuita after dark (ya, a little bit sketch) and wandered looking for a hostel. We encountered a very friendly drunk man (with a bottle of rum in hand) and he told us about his friends hostel just down the street. Probably a bad idea, but we followed him down that unlit street to find that he actually had a friend with a hostel and not a pack
of friends with knives. We paid ten dollars each for the night and left to go eat dinner. We found a nice place with really delicious mixed drinks and had a nice long dinner to reggae music. We returned to the hotel to go to sleep and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean (how cool is that?). We woke up early early the next morning and watched the sun rise over the ocean. Then we walked in the National Park along the beach and in the jungle. These beaches were absolutely incredible. I have never seen more magical beaches, not even in Hawai'i! they really were perfect and in the morning NO ONE was there! so so so awesome! We walked around, ate some coconut we opened, and swam until around 9:30. Then we went to go eat breakfast, which was pretty yummy, then we returned to the beach. We sat on the beach for 4 hours just relaxing and swimming and talking and then ate lunch and played cards. Then we hopped on the bus to San Jose, rode for four hours (extremely uncomfortable and involving explaining to the police why our friend didn't have his passport

can you tell who had a rough night?
or a copy) and then got dropped off in a sketchy part of San Jose. We took a taxi back to the school and then the buses back to our houses. There were a number of times I was sure we were going to be robbed but it all worked out without robberies or stabbings! It also worked out to be probably one of the best experiences I have ever had. increible!
Now I am back in San Jose going to classes. I went downtown today and bought tickets to two dance performances, one being el ballet espana 😊 I am just having way too much fun and yet I am still learning because I am starting to think in spanish before english 😊 Que chiva es la vida!
PS all the picture captions are screwed up but I'm not patient enough to fix them. So just ignore all the captions. Sorry for the mishap!
