So we had booked the jeep-boat-jeep to get us from LaFortuna to Monteverde Cloud forest as we had been told the road is terrible and this way cuts out a big section of the road. Anyway it is not a jeep but a minibus that takes you the first hour down a very bumpy, pothole filled dirt track to the lake. At the lake we jumped on a boat and sailed for 1 hour to the other side of the lake. We then got in our next minibus to take us the last 3hours to Monteverde in the Cloud forest.
We arrived after a very very bumpy journey the roads are the worst ive been on. We checked into our next hostel called Cabinas El Pueblo. Very nice. As we are in the jungle and it is wet the tempretures have cooled down alot. After resting a bit we headed to a small place in town that we had heard of that has some of Costa Ricas frogs housed and a guide that will tell you all about them. There very hard to spot in the jungle as there small and live in the plants around the trees. This was
fun and the frogs were excellent to see so close up. The guide was really nice to, and told us lots of information about different types of frogs.
Day two we woke up early and got on a mini bus for the Santa Elena National park to have a trek around the trails. This was a lovely day seeing the Cloud forest, getting a little wet as its a rain forest and spotting all the bugs, there are so many butterflies everywere. Some are really massive. After 6 hours of walking we headed back for a rest and some food.
We then headed out on a nightwalk that we had booked at a reserve in the National park thats only open at night. A guide took us around, showing us wildlife and telling us a bit about it all. We saw some Sloths, a viper, and lots more bugs. Very cool.
Day three we woke up and me and phill went our seperate ways to do different activities for the morning. Phill went up into the jungle to do Ziplining, which he enjoyed. I headed to the hanging bridges to have a walk through the cloud forest
again. This time high up in the jungle canopy. This was really nice. Very peacefull, and lots of birds everywere. I then went into the hummingbird garden they had in the reserve. To see the many hummingbirds feeding. I stayed here for ages taking lots of photos. It was a nice experience to have hundreds of hummingbirds fluttering around you. They move very fast and there are so many different colours.
In the afternoon me and phill met back up. Packed up and headed out for dinner.
We move on again tomorow, back to the beach for our final place in Costa Rica. The trip is going very quickly now.
