The 25th was a lovely night at sea. The next day we caught a tuna and Amanda made a nice fish pie. The 26th after my midnight watch the winds picked up to 25-30 knots. I still slept fine, but woke to help reef. My next watch I wore my foul weather gear and needed it as waves were routinely dousing the cockpit. The windvane steering is pretty cool. It's my first time with on, but uses no power and the stronger the wind, the better it works which is good because we have very little power, and lots of wind. Well today began with a true Costa Rican adventure, zip-lining through the jungle. My dad and I did the Vista Los Suenos Canopy Tour which included a trek up a mighty slippery hill in a tiny quad/tractor thing with four local guides, 14 amazing cables, and fresh fruit at the end. Did I mention it was raining? Fortunately it was just a light sprinkle, and my dad and I were the only ones on the tour. Our guides Christopher and Fabian were the nicest guys and extremely knowledgeable about the trees in the jungle. We learned about the arboles de caja, which the indigenous used to hit like drums as a way to send signals to one another (much like the use of smoke signals). Hola everyone! It is my second night in the BEAUTIFUL Costa Rica and I thought I would attempt my first blog post. My dad and I arrived safely in San Jose, Costa Rica last night, although we had a slight run for our money in the Dallas Airport. On our quick layover, we ordered burgers and just as we were sitting to eat, they called "last boarding" for our flight to Costa Rica. Needless to say, my dad shoved our burgers into his carry on, we rushed to the plane, made it on, and had enough time to finish our food before we took off haha!
