Costa Rica is totally different to all the other Central American countries. In the first 100 miles we have passed car rental compound for all of the major car hire companies plus a load extra I've never heard off, outlets for all the well know fast food chains (rumour has it that some of our group stopped at a MacDonald's) plus load extra I've never heard off, condominiums, beach resorts, signs in English etc. etc. - its like we have gone though a time-warp and are back in the US again. Travelled here by bus from San Jose on Weds - day after I arrived in San Jose by air at midnight. The trip was suggested by Yiftach - a guy from Isreal. Yiftach was tw months out of service in Isreal and is a great guy - 23 but with a good head on his shoulders lots of it due to his 4 years service in the army. We were accompanied by Jenny from Australia - a reluctant teacher. Jens is travelling for at least 7 months going all over central america and south america. Seems like I am the only person travelling for less than a month. On the way we were joined at the San Jose train station by Kari from London. as they passed by anyways got back to town went to a salsa bar and tried to convince the guys to let me use the drums but the owner wasn´t there so taught my friend salsa. now going for dinner not sure what town i´ll hit tommorow gotta check the bus sched bye... read more

Buenos días amigos y amigas Ayer iniciamos nuestro viaje que nos conducirá por diversas regiones Costa Rica, Panamá y Colombia. Nuestra primera etapa fue San José-Cahuita. Salimos a las 2:45 pm y llegamos a las 6 pm. Viaje sin contratiempos con 2 cortas paradas para tomar café y combustible. Liebe Leute, inmiddels regent het hier kei en keihard (maar alles is beter dan 10 graden onder nul), ben dus maar een internetcafeetje ingedoken. De laatste dagen zijn qua weer iets minder hier. Iedere ochtend is het bewolkt, en 's middags begint de zon dan te schijnen. Gisteren een tweede poging ondernomen om te gaan surfen. Was alleen niet zo'n slimme keus. Die ochtend was het weer bewolkt en dus ben ik in een zwak moment een sportschooltje ingedoken, was een brak hok hoor maar wel weer lekker om even te trainen. Die middag wilde ik een surfboard huren maar kwam na een half uurtje al snel tot de conclusie dat trainen en surfen op een en de zelfde dag geen goede combinatie is.
