So...how to start. My day was all in all pretty much the same as yesterday and the day before. But as I'm sure many of you know there's always some kind of new experience that makes its way into the mix of things. Class with Oky today was great! She complimented my Spanish. =) Letting me know that as difficult as it might be right now she can already notice an improvement in my speaking. I'm not as shy is the way she put it. Her telling me this really put a smile on my face because I am having a difficult time right now. It's hard...when you're surrounded by people that speak NO english it gets frustrating when you know what you want to say, you just can't say it. haha But, I know my ... read more

Hola hola mis amigas! Ojala su dia estuviera tan bien como mi dia! My phone alarm went off close to 6:15am this morning telling me I should go for a run. Being the "in shape" person I'm trying to become these days, I rolled out of bed and threw on my tennis shoes. Pulled up my hair, went to the bathroom only to discover it was pouring outside. I enjoyed a ... read more

Hello All! My day began at 6:30am...as I rolled over in my bed I thought to myself "Did I really just have a dream in Spanish?" haha! amazing if you ask me! After a freezing cold shower (due to me not be able to understand Meriam tell me how to make the water hot) I got dressed and made my way to the kitchen for a home cooked breakfast. Meriam had made a fresh tamale with watermelon, a cup of fresh costa rican coffee and toast. Absolutely delicioso! Meriam walked me to class this morning to make sure I didn't find myself in one of the many massive pot holes around the city. She told me to look down as I'm walking because if not...well you know. Class went from 8:30-12:30. Oky spoke to me in ... read more

Costa Rica is synonymous with coffee. Think Costa Rica and you'll think coffee. You can't go anywhere in the country without passing by the bushy coffee plants growing on the sides of mountains and volcanoes. For our last full day in Costa Rica, we decided to embark on a coffee tour at Cafe Britt, just north of San Jose in Heredia. We couldn't visit one of the top exporters of the delicious bean and not check it out, especially since my sisters and I are coffee-addicts ourselves. For decades, coffee was the lifeline of Costa Rica, flowing through the economy like blood through a warm body. It still is a vital part of the nation's industry, but nowadays, it is export numero 3 since being supplanted by tourism and pineapples in the last decade. During our ... read more
