At the border
In the middle of nowhere crossing out of beautiful El Salvador! And thats only a pen in my mouth...I'm sure Well, no notes and almost dinner time...finally dragged ourselves out of San Juan this morning...after having a sunset G&Ts but with out the T at The Iguana bar/restaurant ion the beach...great views and a fabulous Thai chicken soup, best Thai food I've had in weeks! (Thanks Di)...but this morning we had to wait an hour or so until the credit card machine got working..all part of the seduction of that place...v hard to leave...and apart from El Salvador (boom boom) the bestest place yet...
However, I started out feeling somewhat out of sorts...don't know if it was post birthday comedown or what but given all thats happened, happening and yet to happen I felt like David Bromberg with Someone else's Blues (I swear I don't know why)...so cruising nervously, its sort of strange after a couple of days off the bike, sometimes can't wait to get going and it feels fine ...other times it feels awkward and not so good ...and this chair is killing my back...ahh just changed chairs..thats better...so...soon found myself following the shoreline of a lake, well, really an inland sea! ..this is a big stretch of water, over the other side, maybe 20 kms the now familiar
And we do get off road sometimes!
The bike in the foreground is another story cone of a volcano...meant to say something earlier about the sight of volcanoes, such a different view from anything else and we have been in volcano country for the past few weeks, something simple about the perfect cone shape and incredibly threatening at the same time knowing whats brewing inside...and many of these suckers are very much alive...apparently theres one around where you can see the lava flowing...most of them lose their tops in the clouds and in the afternoons a cloud cover will sit tightly around the cone in a perfect outline.....
Got to the frontier and just followed our noses from window to window, hanging in the queues and got thru in a few hours with little stress...even had time to get my boots shined while waiting in the migration queue...and learning now to not put the papers away too soon...there will always be just one more person, just around the corner, or a couple of kms down the road, just wanting to make sure we have been thru the previous 400 checkers!..anyway, another day another country...pulled in for some lunch at the first town and theres a fcuking great Burger King in a food hall with severalk
Beach view with palapas
Back in El Salvador at El Horizonte....I tried to describe it...here it is! other american franchise junk food palaces!...still, nothing like some rat food every now and then!..
Ted' kept going straight for San Jose (do you know the way?) so he can get off to the US and get his good camera fixed...Grant and I headed for Tamarindo, the famous surf place!...its the first time we've been split up and feels quite weird...but I'll think about that later...really I want to get some photos up...again...as nothing would work in San Juan and now I've burnt them to disc so we'll see if it works......
And Go Dees!
Hey, just spent half an hour and looks like the pix took...sorry again for the image size but thats what you get with a free blog, borrowed computer and very limited ability!!...hahaha
but a bit easier for you to follow than my scrambled thoughts...and theres hardly any order...not sure how I keep finding photos well after the evnt...someone will work it out one day...and soo glad to hear of the weather in Melbourne....keep 'em coming...Love to you all...
