Everything is just simple here. Wow, this is the first time I write a blog about TRAVEL. The 1st stop is Costa Rica due to my boyfriend, he is a Costa Rican. He loves here, and after two weeks of exploration, I think I slightly understand why. Here the life is quite easy, tranquil and actually full of entertainment. Different from what I experienced in Taiwan(I am from Taiwan), the entertainment here is natural and relaxing. Sometimes, watching people and their family in the park or churchs is kind of entertainment. Learning Costa Rican Spanish vocabularies is also interesting. Everything is just simple here. Before coming here, I thought it would be such a boring place. However, after visiting San Jose, Grecia, and Heredia, I think it is more appealing than I thought before. FOOD I ... read more

This is the Craigs List Ad: I am planning a trip to the states from OCT 1 - NOV 4. I haven´t made reservations yet, so i´d be amenable to possibly adjusting the length of my trip to meet your needs also, as long as this time frame is covered. I have 2 very easy, friendly dogs that like to be walked on the many beautiful trails we have in our area. Also have a Lora bird who eats alot and talks a little! lol Mi casa is a new 1 bedroom that is very nice & efficient = looking for 1 person or couple who is responsible, neat & clean. There is a beautiful view of the Central Valley from a sweet rancho that has 2 hanging chairs to tranquilo. You can also see the ... read more

First day of the Boomers! tour. We begin in Grecia and see a few homes that were for sale in the area then we eat a great lunch at one of Andrew's favorite spots. He tells us all to get the lemonade to drink and it was fantastic! It came to the table and it was actually frozen lemonade...it was soooo good. I got one to go as we were leaving. I'm loving the weather. Clear, sunny, no need for a jacket, not sweating either. Just perfect. Andrew lets us stroll around the central square for a bit and we go to another farmer's market - I could definitely get into going and picking up groceries here. We also go into the huge red Catholic Church on the square. It is absolutely beautiful. Local lore says ... read more

Hi friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a 3 day weekend because yesterday in Costa Rica, it is El Dia de Independencia (Independence Day)! Like our 4th of July, Costa Rica gained their independence from Spain on September 15, 1821! Which of course means, no school and no work! More about my celebrations later, but first WOW did I have one interesting weekend so here it goes... Thursday — Espanol Exam, I passed once again with flying colors :) I really am getting into this whole Spanish Language! I really hope to get fluent in Spanish by the time my 3 months is over. Then Lauren & I went to Grecia, a cute small town like 15 minutes from Carrillos. We did some shopping, bought some snacks for the weekend, and had a ... read more

Hola Amigos! It’s day 6 for me here in Costa Rica and I’m most definitely loving it! Things are going great and I’m really beginning to feel like I understand the transportation system, how to talk in Spanish, and that it rains EVERY day! My first day of school was on Monday and it was just an orientation day. They talked to us a lot in English about what to expect and about the school, but every other day will be all in Spanish. We also had 2 placement exams, a written one and an oral one. Some parts of the test were really hard! Spanish class is from 8-12Noon everyday! I wake up at 6AM everyday. And for those who know me I am not at all morning person, but its not a problem for ... read more

Hi All, Today is going to have to be the last day that I write. Tomorrow we leave for Arenal (the volcano) where I will not have any internet access. Then on Sunday from the volcano I will be going straight to Roble Alto, where we will be doing our volunteering for the last week. In Roble Alto we will staying with children who have been taken away from their family for various reasons (death of parents, parents do not have enough money to care for them, etc). All of us will be eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the children. While the kids are in school during the day we will be building them a new dorm and painting older dorms. I believe that this will be an enriching experience for all of us. I ... read more

Hi All, I am finally back at school and starting to feel better! I started feeling sick Saturday while I was at the beach and reached the worst point yesterday. The school sent me back home to my host family with a variety of medicine and orange juice. I am feeling a lot better today, just a cough left. It seems to be going around all of Grecia. 2 of our other girls had to be taken to the doctor. I consider my self lucky that my fever broke. On to more happy things! I have so much to update on so here goes... 1. Friday of last week was a blast!! Everyone was exhausted from a week of classes and agency visits so we all decided to just stay home and chill out. Once Kelly ... read more
