Cayman Island 2016 - Day four

The beds at the Marriott weren’t as comfortable as the condo and the pillows were awful. Everyone slept in enough that I felt rested but a little stiff. We got dressed and headed over to breakfast at the Anchor Restaurant in the lobby of the hotel. One look at the breakfast buffet and we were sold. Made to order omelets, pastries, sautéed vegetables, unique quiches and brunch type combinations I had never thought of mixing together and to top it all off, hot, fresh, churros. It was amazing and hands down the best breakfast buffet I’ve ever been to.

After breakfast we headed down to the beach and grabbed four beach chairs on the beach. We rented our snorkels and reserved a time for paddle boarding. Jeff left to return the rental car and the kids and I went snorkeling. When he returned it was time to go paddle boarding. Jake had his own, Jeff had one and Izzy sat on the front of mine. Jake and I took to it right away but Jeff had a really hard time standing up, actually I don't think he ever was able to stand up for more than 30 seconds, finally something I was better at than he. Jake enjoyed trying to crash into us and falling off his board on purpose. Overall, we were out for about 30-40 minutes and then it got a little boring. We headed back to our chairs and did some reading and ordered some lunch. The pool/beach food was fantastic, the menu had some great choices of salads, sandwiches, and typical beach food, the rum punch wasn’t too shabby either. After lunch the kids played on their phones/kindles at the beach and I was able to finish my book. Jeff took a break and watched some of the football game at the bar. After a few hours in the sun the kids went back to the room to rest. This was our first trip where we let the kids go back to the room by themselves while Jeff and I stayed out at the beach. It was a nice treat.

We showered up and grabbed dinner at the Anchor. Izzy was pretty tired at this point from staying up way too late and getting too much sun, so we had a slight melt-down at dinner, which is becoming a re-ocurring theme with this trip. Jeff brought her back to the room then re-joined us for dessert. The food was again amazing. I got the braised short rib gnocchi and Jeff ordered some sushi. The highlight though was the dessert. Some kind of salted caramel ice cream that was to die for. Absolutely impressed with the dining at this hotel. After dinner we were all exhausted and after a mommy melt down we all went to bed.
