Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink. I awake at 4.30am parched and dehydrated. Not sure how that happened. Could it have been that second bottle of wine last night? Most likely. My soda cup for once is empty and I only manage a couple of drops of fluid before knocking it over and waking Peter.
I am fully awake a few hours later and feel better after the first cup of coffee that Peter has retrieved from Cafe Promenade. It's hot outside on the balcony as the starboard side of the ship is now facing east in the mornings.
Breakfast this morning is at Johnny Rockets for a change. Allure and Oasis are the only 2 ships where Johnny Rockets serve breakfast as it is normally just lunch there. I have a lovely ham and cheese omelet with toast. Peter opts a for his usual of eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes.
We then gather our things and head for deck 5 aft where there are some old fashioned wooden steamer chairs located near to the running track. It's a nice sunny spot and perfect for some reading or listening to music. Runners and walkers pass us by and whilst
I admire their commitment. I think it's far too hot and humid for all that exercise nonsense. Chill out and relax why don't you?
The sun moves position and so we head up to the Solarium for a while. Before we know it it's lunchtime and we head to the Windjammer for the first time on this cruise. Unsurprisingly for this ship it's very large but blissfully cool after the heat and humidity of the Solarium. Food in the Windjammer is buffet style and there is so much to choose from. There are salad stations, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, stews, soups, cookies, cheesecakes, jellies and mousses, actually I could fill this pages with the various options but you get the drift. Afterward we head back to the Solarium and both take a dip in the pool to cool off. We sunbathe for a while longer but the heat takes its toll and we retreat to our cabin for a while. I snooze whilst Peter heads off exploring and taking more pictures.
Tonight is the 2nd formal night and so we dress as penguins and head toward Vintages for a glass of wine and then to the main dining room for dinner. Tonight
is lobster night which everyone seems to rave about. We do have the lobster but are somewhat underwhelmed as the taste and composition resembles that of plastic. We won't partake again. Dinner service is over very quickly. Almost too quickly as if the servers are racing to get us out but it's hard to be annoyed with them as they are all so gracious and attentive.
We go back to our cabin to change into civvies and then the Schooner Bar to watch a little of the 70's show on the Royal Promenade. Then it's to the Amber Theatre for tonight's show which is entitled The Blue Planet. Not the best show I have seen at sea but it did have its moments and after all it's included with the price of the cruise. It finishes about midnight and so we grab a quick slice of pizza at Sorrento's before going to bed.
Last full day on the ship tomorrow.
