Apparently I was wrong! Yes, I said it I was wrong, get over it.
Red today and brown tomorrow served not to be true. Well kind of. I certainly was red after St. Maarten last voyage, and after two days it turned one Nubian colour of brown. It was an amazing tan. That is until the itching started. And you all know what that means - PEELING….. NOOOOOOOO! Regardless of how much moisturizer I caked on and let marinate my shoulders and upper back peeled - like a baked potatoe. It was actually really yucky. I now look like I have the Michael Jackson disease, and I am not happy one bit.
So this cruise we are doing our 4 day voyage to Grand Turk and Bahamas. I am very excited because I have always wanted to go to Bahamas and see Atlantis and its grand aquarium.
When we arrived in Grand Turk, Jeanette and I decided that we would try and get off the ship for at least an hour or so and go to the beach. And considering the beach is literally a stones throw away it wasn’t going to be a problem. But getting

Atlantis from the sun deck on the Carnival Legend. up that morning was like the most difficult feat I think that I have conquered. I was soooooo tired it was unbelievable. Normally I am right on time, or if I am super tired I might be running 5 minutes behind and often Jeanette waits for me - she’s such a doll that way. But I get all ready to go and Jeanette is not there. I thought to myself for second that she must have left without me. NAH! She wouldn’t do that. So I decided to go to her room and give a knock. About 10 seconds later she opens the door with wild hair. SHE SLEPT IN…. WHAT NOW! She said that she felt like she had been hit by a Mac Truck, considering how hard it was for me to get up I knew exactly what she was feeling like. So we leisurely took our time getting ready and then headed to the beach.
As we walk through Margaritaville in Grand Turk I could feel the heat of the sun through my shirt and though to myself that this was going to be a hot one. We got to the beach managed to get two
beach chairs and then lounge for a little bit. As the skin on my shoulders and back was relatively baby-like, the sun was HOT! I put on 35 sunscreen, and I don’t think I have ever put on 35, in fact I laugh at people who put 35 on. Well laugh no more, as there is a definite method to their madness. I managed to stay in the sun for about 25 minutes before I couldn’t take it any longer with the knowledge that I would pay for it later.
The next day of the 4-day cruise sailed us to Nassau, Bahamas. I woke up and had Day 3 orientation to complete after which I would be able to get off of the ship. Considering that we didn’t get to Bahamas until 2 pm, it would be plenty of time to finish the training and get all of the administration work done.
I was like a boy at Christmas. I went to my room got all ready and then headed up to the Sun Deck, which is all open to the sky, so I could take a look at Nassau from a birds eye view. Although beautiful, alike
Take Cover
Sam - Social Host, taking cover as the rain is coming. many of the other Caribbean islands, it was VERY cloudy and I was a little disappointed.
But that didn’t stop the lot of us from getting ready and heading over. A large group of us decided that we would take the water taxi over as it was apparently faster than an actual taxi. I can say whom ever thought of that idea was WRONG. It took us like 25 minutes just to get everyone on the little taxi and then start to head over. On our way over the tour guide clearly realized that we were all a little mad that we had to wait so long so he gave us some history on Nassau.
We managed to get to Atlantis through some light rain showers.
Atlantis is unbelievable. It is very grand with almost anything you could think of. I have been to many places before that us a theme but nothing like this. I mean if you are going to use a theme then you have to use the theme for everything so there is a commonality with the design. Atlantis definitely does this. Everything in the hotel/resort is surrounded around the theme of under
the Sea or Ocean in general. It is amazing. You will see with some of the picture that everything from the door handles to the light fixtures all surround this theme.
We walked around the resort and took in the sights. Went to the amazing aquarium, watched all of the fish, sharks and sting ray swim by. Then this MASSIVE Sting Ray swam by. I am telling you it was as if a King Sized bed mattress was floating through the aquarium. I was stunned.
On our way out of Atlantis, Brian Marlize and I go poured on. Like as if the Ocean raised up and dropped on us. I don’t think I have seen rain like that in a LONG time. Why was Titan so angry???
After the 4 day cruise we had a relocation cruise without guest onboard of the ship. So that meant two days sailing from our original home port of Ft. Lauderdale, to Tampa Florida. Vanessa and I organized a lot of the activities and took all employees who were interested to do a Bridge and Engine tour. This was awesome, and all of the employees who went on it loved it
too.
There were disco nights where we didn’t have to wear our uniforms, which never happens, casino nights, and live music playing all the time. Vanessa and I still worked the majority of it, but took in some of the free time we could.
So the last few days was awesome. And some of the pictures definitely show that.
At this point I only have three, yes three, Oh My God, three weeks left in my contract. I will be heading to Star Centre next week to get certified as a Maritime Officer Quality, Training, Research, Simulation, Assessor.
But until then, I will talk to you all soon.
