After lounging around a good part of the day swimming and getting some sun, we decided that we would visit the Rum Bahamas Festival in Nassau. It was a weekend long event with many rum distillers showing their wares. It was at a very interesting location, Fort Charlotte. The fort dates back to British Colonial times, built in the late 1700's. It's built on a hill that's the highest point around Nassau. It's kind of a ruin now and a cool location for the festival. The whole festival wound around the fort. There were many booths offering rum samples and all kinds of tropical rum drinks. 12 avril 2010 : Après une pause à Miami, toujours chez Maria-Christina la sœur de Socorro, nous partons pour une croisière destination les Bahamas. Nous arrivons sur le quai à 11h00 et embarquons pour nous trouver dans notre cabine à 13h00. Nous visitons le bateau et partons dîner à 18h00. Nous voyageons la nuit. 13 avril 2010 : Nous arrivons à Nassau, la capitale des Bahamas, à 8h00 du matin. Visite de la Ville et notamment un ensemble appelé "Atlantis" qui est censé reconstituer la cité disparue. Retour sur le bateau et dîner à 18h00 où nous faisons la connaissance de Carole et John, un couple d'Américains de l'Illinois, avec qui nous partagerons nos repas pendant toute la croisière et que nous retrouverons à Coal Valley sur la Route 66 trois ans plus tard. My decision to go to The Bahamas came up in a strange way. It all started when I met a friend of my sister’s at her wedding last summer. Being friendly and exotic, that was enough for me to keep in touch. Being friends from St. Johns University for 4 years, I felt comfortable enough to pursue a friendship with a friend of my dear sister. After learning that my roommate, a Delta employee, had extra buddy passes to use up before they expired, I took advantage of the opportunity and told Brian I would be visiting his country. Day 37- Loz went for a run and met the prime minister who lives round the corner from us. Amelia found a lizard in the bathroom and rescued it. Went to cable beach and spent the day sunbathing. Day 38- Went to cable beach for a swim. 4th July, watched the fire work display at sandals resort. Car alarms were going off because the fireworks were so loud. Amelia cried because she hates fire works. Day 39-Beach day. One of the hottest days so far. Ate loads of cake. Went downtown to Bambu and then to a house party in paradise island later. day 27- Spent the day at cable beach topping the tan up. Went to Senor frogs later for a meal. Nat screamed when a cocktail joined us for the meal. Ended up gettin on the yards, got a taxi home later. The taxi man was playing baby making music so we told him to put some rap and raggae music on and we soon turned the taxi into a party bus. Nat was apalled by the swearing in every song. Arrived home and woke up the majority of cable beach. Loz mooned the landlord. Day 28-Beach again, came back and found a lizard on the wall. loz attempted chasing it but failed and one of these mornings we will wake up with it on one of our faces.
