Greetings from Barbuda, I want to start by saying that we serve an awesome God who has showed up in a beautiful and mighty way! This morning was our last morning of VBS and it felt bitter-sweet. We have been averaging about 150 children, praise the Lord! Worship was fun and exciting as it has been all week. It is wonderful to hear the children sing father Abraham in their adorable accents! The group that led today was John S., Amanda, and Lucy. They had the opportunity to share the message of Salvation in a creative and exciting way. When they asked who wanted to accept the Lord Jesus into their hearts there was an amazing response! We are believing that the seeds that were planted will take root and that these children will never be ... read more

Hello to all. I just wanted to give you a brief update on our week and our ministry. Every morning we were able to do a Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the kids of the island. The first day we had 84 kids, but it only went up after that!!! Tuesday (157 kids), Wednesday (147) and today (132 kids). We were able to talk to them about the creation story, the Bible is the Word of God and we also talked about Salvation. What a powerful week of ministry! In the evenings we were able to talk to the teenagers of the island about the topic of sex and what God has to say to us, through the Bible about what is right and wrong. The first night we talked about how the world and God's ... read more

This morning was VBS and this time we had power, PRAISE GOD. More and more kids came so we know tomorrow will be absolutely packed. Today we talked about sin and how it separates us from God. Then after lunch and stuff we all did a local service project. The guys cleaned up the church computer lab, which was a mess! The girls helped clean up the school. Tonight for dinner we had a little taste of home- PIZZA : Tonight was the last night of the Power of Sex series, and probably the most powerful. PB and Kami spoke about forgiveness, and the freedom God offers. Camryn, Allie, Olivia, and Tina gave their testimonies tonight. There also was a skit about some over dramatic parents and a girl who messed up. After the sermon, the ... read more

Hello I am Olivia and I will be talking about what went on today! Well we got up bright and early around 5:30 for some girls and 6:30ish for me. The island time is really weird. It gets early real early and dark early! The kids started banging on the gates to get into the area of the church around 8:30am we gave them the soccer ball and they started a game. Lucy and I went out to play with the little boys and a group of young girls instantly grasped on to us and went to the other field to play. We got really hot but it was time for the VBS to start. But when we got in there we found no comfort from the heat the power had come off and NOTHING WORKED! ... read more

Hey my name is Olivia! It is Tuesday today but I will be talking about yesterday. Yesterday was an unexpected blessing...well at least to me. I thought that there would be like a few little kids that would, maybe if we were lucky, fill up a few rows of the church. But! As you know when you put God in a box he will bust out of it and go beyond your expect ions. There were so many kids! Each one of them wanting to play with your hair or sit on your lap. They were there for your attention. It was funny that when they tried to braid your hair they would ask for grease. We had a great team that day do Vacation Bible School for the kids. The kids sung to all the ... read more

We have arrived in Barbuda, the ladies on Saturday night and the guys on Sunday morning. We had a great time in service worshiping together with Barbuda Pentecostal Church. Kami and Dave led Sunday School this morning and Nic, Alicia and Kara shared a testimony, our team performed a funny skit (the itch skit) and Kara awed the church with her Fine Arts Piano piece. It is beautiful here and we spent the afternoon walking around Codrington, the main (and only) city on Barbuda. We invited everyone we saw to Vacation Bible School during the week days and then to our youth services during the nights. Yes it is hot, and it takes time getting used to NOT having A/C, but the breeze is awesome! We are enjoying all the local and wild animals (the flocks ... read more

Grandma was eaten by a shark Dad, by a killer whale And my baby brother got slurped up By a rather hungry sea snail Andrea Shavick So you think you know your sharks: scary, horrible, teeth producing machines, all set to attack! Well according to National Geographic, more humans get bitten by people from New York each year than by sharks. So it’s time to learn a bit more about these amazing creatures and realise that sharks tend to leave us alone, as long as we leave them alone. Don’t get me wrong, sharks are efficient hunting machines, but they would much rather chomp down a tasty fish or crab than chase after you or me. So how do they hunt, well they have an amazing array of fine-tuned senses at their “fin-tips”. They can sense ... read more

We are still in Barbuda, loved it!!! Talk about speechless, it is one of those times. A wow! And you know there are not too many times I have been speechless. We started our day with Cayuga picking us up, went to beach. We had a local tour of the "Black Frigate Birds". We learned to tell the male from females, the young ones, etc. I got pictures! The males they have this mating call and their chest swells up in red balloon. The females after mating, they feed the males and the young. The males leave in or around May 1 for the Yucatan or Argentina. There is a population of 19000 birds here. The USA comes down once a year to monitor them. The young ones are white turning to black within 2 years, ... read more
