really nice Been there 2 times.... i love it. you seemed to have a great time also. its one of the few places in the world that i can't forget. Can't wait to see it again and again...
Interesting article The only criticism that I have is the spelling of the name of the country.
The country is spelled "Colombia", not "Columbia" (as in Columbia, gem of the ocean).
But that taken aside, I enjoyed your article immensely, having visited Bogota myself
many years ago. I was a Spanish professor for 30 years. I am now retired and
living in San Clemente, California. Cheers!

A heartfelt thank you I'm Brian, owner of El Diablo Tranquilo. I would simply like to extend my thanks to you and all of those who have been so kind to us since this project began. During a personal down time faced with bureaucratic road blocks, a slower than hoped for low season, a break down of the truck we depend on, and all the loneliness of trading home and friends for a dream; my brother reminded me to read this post again to remind myself while it's all worth it. Blogs such as these play such a huge role in allowing us to succeed and perhaps a bigger one helping display what we are about and hopefully draw those people who will get the most enjoyment out of it. After all, that's the best part about working in the service industry, the 'business' is straight forward - you know you are doing a good job only when people are smiling, if nobody is sharing good times and stories with friends, we go under pretty quick. Thanks to all of you guys who have had fun and made it fun for us, there's no shame in that.
Amazing! Very brave of you to take the "third option"! Have your overall plans changed any, or will you still approach the rest of the world in the order and timeframe as the "world as we see it" map on your homepage?
Just checking in on you guys. I will buy the book when it comes out, by the way. Fascinating.
Shame.. Shame that they destroy the all peace and silence of the place changing the sound of the ocean for the screams of alcoholic yankees tourist.... Shame
Another great hostel recommendation. I will also be goign to Florianopolis in November. I will probably stay at the hostel in this blog. Looks worth it. :)
That couple who own the hostel seem amazing! Some people are so adventurous. I will be in Punta del Diablo next November, so hopefully I will get to see the hostel for myself. :)
Glad to hear you guys made it through the Favela safely. Mike and I loved City of God and recently watched the City of Men series and movie. If the Favela was anything like it was portrayed on the series, it took guts to tour through there!
Bariloche enjoyed your comments, esp about fly fishing in area. I plan to go down in Dec. and will keep in mind what you said about expenses. I am esp interested in fishing Rio Limay outside of Bariloche--I have heard there are big brown in those riffles.
thanks and good travels,,, bill---------------Rio de Janeiro
Is it true that.... ... all men and women in Florianopolis look stunning? That's what a friend said to me after he came back from a surfing trip there some time ago. His theory: Once men and women turn about 40, they get banned from the beach..... or else, they age really, really well............
First time for everything... I dont know who looks more scared/ confused...bones or the sheep he's about to castrate....The look on your face is priceless!
Hahahahahahah!!!!! The tough life of the backpackers!!!!!! Well, so far you've managed to NOT being arrested nor deported, so I'd say that's a great achievement..... John, from what I've seen in the pictures from Copacabana, you¡ve lost the beard!!!!!!

KEEP GOING ENJOING THE LIFE AROUND THE WORLD, I´M SURE WE´LL MEET AGAIN
Yes... making our way to Africa May-ish Iratxe!! You have not idea how much we want to watch Lost when we get the opportunity... but we must watch them chronologicaly. And yes... I have been blessed with Basque friends!! How have you been btw? Shoot me an email if you get the chance.
Sadly, not fluent in any other languages Mrs. Schneider!! I´ve heard wonderful things about Colorado... did you have a nice time other than flight setback?
For us... we have no deadlines or important schedules... so plane cancellations are just a bit of a hiccup. :) We´ve been traveling mostly by bus (40+ is the count) and only one plane.
I´m happy to hear that we are an inspiration to you... if you ever want to travel like we are... I highly recommend it. Take care!
Yet another Basque in you lives ;))) Hahaha, Chrissy, I must admit I loughed out loud when I read about Oscar (amazing how many Basques have crossed your paths in life so far) and your nightime LOST moment (btw, the smoky monster had an important role in the last episode). Amazing trekks, awesome pics, incredible experiences.... you guys are getting ready for Tibet and the Himalayas, right? But hopefully before that I'll be meeting you again somewhere in Northern Africa, Southern Spain or here in the Basque Country.... Have fun!!!!!
