your blog entries so I see at the top that this blog is from May 30.. are you really just over a month behind or are these blogs really showing up that late in my rss feeds??
Whither Andrew Uhhh, Andrew, here it is July and a May post is the last one? From China? Internet slow from there? When did the State Dept. lift the ban on travel there? Why am I always the last one to know? And who is Jen? Do I get to meet her? (I know. Back off, man, too many questions! Sorry.) But I travel too, ya know. Ran the Lake Tahoe Relay recently. A coupla weeks before the big fire there. They report that in China? Can't remember any reports of big fires in China. Probably there are (big fires in China) so probably they didn't (report the Tahoe fire). Oh well. Are you back in the good ol' USA yet? God bless it, and all the countries in the world! Yer year's ovah! :)
Congrats Awesome awesome news.. Glad to know that you and Jen are now officially together.. I am late on reading your journal as you know I am in India now for my brother's marriage.
So you guys still on for India??
Good info on Beijing! Thanks for all of the detail! I'll be visiting Beijing July 2 to 7. Wondering about the smog and what precautions I can take so I don't get sick while trying to experience everything.
heat rash mania! Hey... well, sounds like things are going well!! and I'm really happy to hear that you and Jen are an official thing!
What oyu described with your arms and legs sounds a whole lot like a heat rash.... I had one once when I was in Rome... on the backs of my legs... also took a couple days to heal... looked horrid and was uncomfortable!!
How's life otherwise??
Boxers or briefs Ahh, the guy who serves the Lord by peeling a pear with a Bowie knife while he carefully watches you. There in Laos did you feel like you were on a NYC subway riding through South Bronx? Sounds like you're having a great time in SE Asia. When are you going to get to Down Under?
howdy How are you doing?? Looks like you are having a blast.. watch out for wierdos in some Asian countries.. And dont eat too much spice.. u need water and that water might not be in your best interests..
We are doing well here. Rob told me you might go to India. let me know when that is.. Iw ill be in India from June 9th to July 6th.. Rusheel is doing well is now 6 months old.. u are gonna be surprised seeing him.. Anyways good luck with rest of your trip and keep in touch
Nice Joke, Andrew You sure this isn't an April Fool's joke that you just took a 10 hour bus ride from China to Laos? You sure you're not in some pub in Canberra sending out blogs as though you're in SE Asia? The worms in the terlit doesn't sound so hot! Tibet next?
damn it hot... man... we are starting to get some heat here (and sunshine!!) but I am not at all looking forward to it... it can stay like it is and I'll be happy.. 95F is not what I call comfortable heat... yeah, I grew up in NM.. but there isn't 70-90% humidity there (not everyday)!!
how's the humidity there? I assume it is also rather high... when you heading to Tibet?
Lost in Translation is a fantastically funny movie!!! and that pita/meat thing.... uh yeah, not appetizing....
the best thing about this entry is the "Unrecycling" photo.... seriously.. what on earth should that mean?! hehe
Oh, and the "Oscar" thing... I have heard many Chinese (Japanese too) adopt an "English" name....
Almeria Hi Andy. I enjoed reading your Blog. I dropped on it out of curiousity as I have a home in Almeria province a little further up the Eastern coast though. I have been to Almeria and yes there are some run down areas and it can be threatening but overall it is an interesting day outif you havent been before and the rambla is excelent to promenade up isnt it!

a rant a day... well... sounds like the "far east" is a definite change from the US.... there are already enough differences in Europe (at least mentality wise), but it sounds as if they begin to seem less in comparison to going farther east....
cultural variations It's very interesting to hear how different the various cultures are... in particular to know how differently an individual (outsider/foreigner) is treated by the locals... sometimes with open arms... and others, like some sort of side-show freak... go figure.
Maybe some things are happening in some of the larger cities that wouldn't necessarily in the smaller ones...
She/he.. we're not sure well... at least you made the discovery before anyone decided to hit on "her"! sorry, bad joke.. but in reality, it's a possibility that that could have happened...
Guess you really lucked out meeting some girls who speak chinese... and it must indeed be interesting to notice the changes in the culture!
Well, I wish I could dispell the spitting rumor, but it does happen. Saw it a couple times when I was staying with my friend in Liuyang (300K people, so a village by chinese standards!)
ok $105 still its a bit overdone...
yeah, I bet they charge us more than anyone else in the world... hmm...
sucks that you had to spend so much money... on the bright side... your there!!!!
lucky guy!
China! Well well well... entering yet another foreign land.... please please (I already know you will but...) send me pics of the Great Wall and other sites in China... I need to get there myself someday... but for now, I will have to live vicariously through you/your Blog!! :)
PS. eat some more crazy stuff.... oh and I need you to dispell some rumors for me if you can... including that some Chinese people spit on the floor while in restaurants... particularly in the bigger cities, but also in little villages..... I'm curious
Actually, it was $105. That includes 75$ for a double entry visa (Americans pay $25 more than every other country) and $30 for one day processing because they were closed the entire previous week. It sucked.
$150 Visa??!! Wow, thats a lot of money for a visa.. is it just for travellers or how long is it good for?
Believe me, I know about the whole line thing for a visa.... I hope at least that you were greeted by smiles and not an over-stressed and very grumpy reception!
ET Phone Home Best pic title ever!! ha... and a great pic....
sounds like Asia is turning out to be quite exciting for you!!
Hope everything else is well...
hugs
I guess it's time for an update to the profile here -- it's been a while since I've updated this!
I'm in Canada currently living with my fiancee Jen, and working as a Computer Systems Analyst. The travel bug certainly hasn't died, but it's good to have some stability. Jen and I are certainly planning to travel more in the future -- the question is just when.
Remember, I have lots more photos on flickr.
I'm also working on creating an audio guide to Angkor. Once complete, it should cover all of t... full info

I'm over a month behind. I'm working on catching up. =). Heading to the beach tomorrow, though so that might not happen for a while.
