Dear friend so far from home. I enjoy your musings, whereas the delightful scener you eloquently paint has me urning to see the sights you speak of. I take pride in having a friend, so ambitious to take on such a challenge, and yet so humble to venture off with out her most precious of possessions... Your Family.
Your neighbor on Westwood Just reporting that a bit over a week ago we spent 3 days without power - much like camping. Your boys are always full of energy and I enjoy seeing them play when I walk the dog. Cody checked on me to make sure I was ok without the power.
Your mom is learning to drive the Prius. Yesterday the flashers were on when I walked by so I turned them off.
I enjoy reading your blog and hope for a trip to Africa someday.

Thanks for looking out! My mother learning to drive my car is something too scary to consider! Thanks for keeping me updated. I am glad you all made it through the crazy weather.

So glad to have another blog!!!!!! Sounds like you are finding your daily grind. I can not wait to see some pictures. Enjoy the adventure and I will see you soon. It goes by so quickly.
Your proud Grandma Karen is sharing your blogs with us and how much we enjoy and appreciate reading of your expriences and seeing the very touching photos of your today's trip to the orphanage. We wish you the greatest experience in every way this summer. Blessings - Eleanor and Paul.
Your neighbor on Westwood Thanks for a great post. I have always wanted to go to Africa. Your descriptions were like being there. The boys are playing and having fun. I will let you know if they are getting into into trouble!
When my daughter and I were in Istanbul we got the Turkish "stare". It did not bother me, but to this day, she does not like to go there. It is a cultural thing.

LONELY ARE THE BRAVE READING YOUR BLOG I REALIZE HOW MUCH I MISS YOUR VOICE, NOT JUST THE LITERAL VOICE BUT YOUR UNIQUE VOICE THAT MAKES YOU- YOU. HOW INCREDIBLY BRAVE YOU ARE TO DO THIS AND TO BE THERE AND TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS-BUT LONELY ARE THE BRAVE MY FRIEND. ( I KNOW- THANKS FOR THE COMFORTING WORDS- BUT IT'S TRUE) THINGS IMAGINED NEVER REALLY MATCH OUR EXPECTATIONS WHEN WE CAN ACTUALLY BRING IT TO FRUITION. BUT I GUARANTEE YOU WILL NEVER REGRET THE EXPERIENCE AND WITH MOST MOMENTS , THEY ALWAYS LOOK BEAUTIFUL WHEN WE ARE MOVING TOWARDS THEM OR LOOKING BACK ON THEM BUT LOSE THEIR LUSTER WHEN WE ARE IN THE THICK OF IT. AGAIN. NOT MUCH ENCOURAGEMENT. AHHH- HERE'S SOMETHING-- YOU ARE THE MOST AMAZING, THE BRAVEST WOMAN I I HAVE EVER KNOWN AND I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! ( YES I ADORE YOU AS YOU KNOW, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO SLEEP WITH YOU NO MATTER HOW THIS SOUNDS -LOL) I LOOK FORWARD TO MY VICARIOUS TRIP TO AFRICA WITH YOU-- THANK YOU.. I CAN'T WAIT TO EXPERIENCE MORE- AND ALL OF IT- THE GOOD AND THE BAD AND THE UGLY!! IAM ENJOYING EVERY MINUTE OF IT WITH YOU-- EXCEPT FOR THE ICTR THINGY. THAT DOES NOT SOUND FUN- NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT AND NOT EVEN BEING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN AFRICA MAKES THAT PLEASANT. LOL STAY SAFE AND TAKE IT ALL IN. YOU ARE MAKING AN AMAZING MEMORY. LOVE YOU DONNA P.S. I HOPE YOU TOOK A SCARF LOL
Hang in there, Lisa. I'm sure it's not easy to be a tall, blonde woman in Africa. Sort of like me being a giant woman in Japan. Fortunately, the Japanese are very respectful and don't stare (at least when you're looking). You'll get used to it all and will enjoy the experience, I'm sure. Take care.

Groping If you are as open minded and adventurous as it takes to do what you are doing, you might as well change your ways and enjoy being groped even by a female!!! I enjoyed every paragraph of your 4-day blog entry. Your homesickness sounds exactly how I felt when I arrived at the U. of Illinois (a week earlier than my dorm-mate!). I felt literally sick. The start of school cured about 90% of it. I hope your project cures at least that much for you. Being a math tutor, I loved your metaphor of the 1/11th. I guarantee that you will be back on that treacherous "puddle jumper" before you know what hit you -- and I hope none of those jealous women will. If women think you are as pretty as you are, PLEASE be very careful of the men -- believe me, your self-deprecating thoughts of age and weight will not IN THE LEAST be on their minds. Enjoy every minute of your adventure, even the excitingly fearful ones. I predict that this summer in Africa will make you a much improved person, wife, mother, and lawyer. I hope your "project" is enjoyable and rewarding to you, but more importantly to those it benefits.
Love, Uncle George
