Good Times Hey James, great blog!, I also have one nomadicanuk here on travelblog from years ago. Your welcome back anytime, the project is now winding down and the house is finished, I will put up pictures soon. See you around!
I haven't gone to La Scala in Milan, if that's what you're asking. The opera in Vienna was in Italian, and was quite enjoyable. I think you would have loved this performance I saw last year: Liszt's "Dante Symphony" with an Italian alto reading the Divine Comedy along with the music. During the Purgatorio movement the chorus and a beautiful mezzo soprano chimed in from various points inside the theater. Was fantastic.
Your opera experience Did you get a chance to attend a true Italian opera? That's an experience I don't think I'd beable to handle. Please give all the details when you're back "home"
your pictures of braunfels (that looks weird without the "new" modifier :P) have pushed germany from about third on my list of places to visit to the top spot. looks like the kinda place i could hang around for a while.
And Now There Is A Guide To Wwoofing Hi there,
Interested to read your first line. I have been wwoofing extensively over the last 10 years and have spent alot of the last 2 preparing an A-Z of wwoofing, a guide book. I have now published it and it is called:
'The Practical Guide To Wwoofing' by A.Greenman and it is available as via my website:
www.wwoofing.co.uk
As a pocket handbook or e-book.
Enjoy

Tear to my eye... James you are so awesome!!! I read this post and I can totally see you doing all of the things that you described here...you are such an amazing person and I know that all the people that you are meeting can see that too! The older ladies there are right! I miss seeing you!
I'm sorry to hear that your trip is being cut early, but it's good for family to come foremost. It seems that at least you are having a nice time with your last couple of days in what will hopefully not be the end of your time in Europe. I hope you are thoroughly enjoying yourself. I hope your dad regains health and you can continue your journey soon.
It's pretty busy, but doesn't seem as busy as Dublin. I would say it's as crazy as Austin, with hipsters galore and a shitty bar street. Not sure how the suburbs are, I'm staying in town.
Yo! Sounds like you're having a very eventful trip so far. What's Galway like? I actually have a friend of the family who moved there from Dublin recently.
The entries all showed up simultaneously because, even though I backdated them, I posted them all within a few minutes of each other. I didn't have net access in Kilmlihil, so I just typed up entries on the netbook for later posting...
For years, I've wanted to take some time and travel. Sure, there has been the limited 1 or 2 week journeys to the major sites, but I wanted to go away for a while. Well, In 2009 I'm getting my chance. With the economic downturn, I have been able to negotiate a 6 month leave of absence from the job, and will parlay that into pursuing some of my interests. I am looking to do some farm work through the WWOOF program and get away from the connected lifestyle that is both a blessing and a curse. I'm not sure how often I will update this blog, but will try to keep it fairly up-to-date.... full info
