I just had the most wonderful trip through Guatemala and Belize, from the temples in the jungle to Caye Caulker. Thank you for getting this together, what a job with all the pics, maps, and of course The Story. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks a million, mama! Although late in arriving, the post was still a joy to put together. Glad to see you come along for the ride. May you enjoy more adventures in the future... :-)
Great reading I really enjoyed reading this latest report, Suzi, my (young) old friend. You continue to amaze me with your adventures and energy. It has been a long journey for both of us since Biloxi. You know you have a free indoor campsite here in Virginia's Appalachian Mountains if you ever get this way.
Thanks, Richard! What a nice thing to say. I may just have to take you up on that offer one of these days. I'm sure my travels could somehow include the east coast of the states, a place I know so little of. Enjoy the spring and keep an eye out for more (infrequent) blogs!
Belize and kittyland Wow, now you can be called 'the cat lady'. Smiley looked as though he wanted to bite your hand off!
Nothing like being surrounded by water. This was long ago now, but glad you got to documenting.
Pics were fabulous.....got the talent from your Dad? Dolores Fahey
Thanks, Dolores and sorry for the delay... Yup, everything I learned in photography I learned from my pops, although I take more "snapshots" rather than making sure everything is set to the T! Always good to hear from you...
Mountains, rats and corn Hi Suzi..........another sojourn with you is much fun! No one can resist your electric personality!.....2016, I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Fondly, Dolores
And back atcha! Thank you, Dolores, and a Merry Christmas to you as well. Have a safe and wonderful holiday season. More stories coming in the new year - brace yourself! :-)
Paradise found Everyday was renewing your energy and mind in this beautiful place.....why could it have not
been filled with all those mozzies? but the net with NO holes was a blessing for peaceful sleep.
Even though 2012 seems long ago, this, I'm sure, is still fresh in your memory. Dolores
Still very fresh Yup, this is still so fresh in my mind. It was such a peaceful, out of the way place and I am fortunate to have experienced it when I did. Hope LL never gets developed or spoiled.
Icky....eeek! Suzi, com 'on...certainly you can do better at finding roommates! Icky..eeek..makes me shiver...how ever did you finally sleep? Enchanting place, but! Onward!! Dolores
Icky eek...but not really Dolores, you crack me up! Spiders and creepy crawlers don't both me, but waking up to THREE scorpions in my bed wasn't very pleasant. It took a while before I finally fell back to sleep, and fortunately the little buggers never came back.
Ruins and howler monkeys No Uber in Bandit Country yet?? They seem so curious, not seeing City girls often. They welcoming and hospitality is such a nice things. Fondly, Dolores
No Uber No, Dolores, there was no Uber there. :-) Keep in mind I was there in 2012, perhaps before Uber's time, or at least on a mass international scale, like today. Besides, hitching is such a common way for the locals to get around, it makes sense to do it, even as a foreigner. And yes, we encountered lovely, wonderful people wherever we went.
Inspiring Funny stories and very inspiring :) I hope one day can travel like you. But now I'm just making baby steps. Planning to travel in Jordan. Can you please send me the phone number of that desert camp you went?
Phone number Greetings Ildiko,
The name is Salman Zwaidh Camp in the Wadi Rum Desert of Jordan.
As far as I am aware the number is +962 7 9960 3157 and you can speak with Salman directly. He also has a webpage and a Facebook page if you are interested.
Glad you found my blog site and are enjoying the posts. I hope you find joy and adventure in your future travels, as I most certainly have. The world is most definitely a wonderful place to explore.
Suzi
Viva Mexico! I always love to read about your adventures and the interesting and wonderful people you are able to meet. You are a great ambassador for your country! Mom

Oaxaca is where our daughter most likely gone when she was going to be in the CA Youth Symphony in 4th grade, bt we moved back East before she had a chance to go.
Greetings! Diane,
Sorry for the massive delay in getting back with you. I have only been on my blog site intermittently the past months and mostly just to get out a post, trying to catch up. Too bad your daughter didn't get the chance to go to Oaxaca during her Youth Symphony days. Has she been yet?
Glad you are enjoying the updates, Diane. Do keep in touch and let me know how life is treating you back on the east coast (you have been there already a few years....wow, how time flies!).
Suzi
Beautiful Pacific Ocean scenes Loved your pics of family spending time together, friend and hugs, plus nameless dog. The scenes of the Pacific coastline
never get old viewing....lovely, even in January. ,........... Dolores
Left the USA on October 10, 2006 and at the time of writing (May 24, 2008) I have no definite plans of going back for a while. Too much of the world to see, too many new friends to make, too many new cultures and languages to understand. Work can wait. My life can not.
I'm a bare-bones budget traveler, getting around by hitch-hiking, taking local chicken buses and sleeping in cheap hostels or occasionally on the floor of kind locals. I have been blessed to experience what I have thus far on my journey.
Traveling and volunteering my way around the world has become a lifestyle choice for m... full info
