Jennie

American with serious love of travel and yoga. Having joined the adult working class a few years ago, traveling has fallen by the wayside a little. My most recent trip was to northern India and Nepal in 2009. I adored Sikkim and the little village of Bandipur in Nepal. My most recent adventures have involved forays into the Sierra Nevadas, my own backyard. I'm off to Germany, Italy and Switzerland this May. I'm sure that three days will cost as much as a month in India but I still can't wait. Already dreaming of castles, gellato, wine, and glaciers, all with my favorite sister!

I'm attaching a few photos to show the work we're doing. We actually put a plexiglass box over squares of peat and measure the carbon dioxide balance within the box. We're just starting a new project where we are simulating drought. You can see in the pictures that we hauled in ... read more

James and I visited Joshua Tree National Park yesterday. It's been so dry here in California, just 2 inches of rain this year, so there was no water in site, but most of the trees still looked pretty good. As we entered the park I asked James, "where are the trees"? To which he replied, "those are the trees" and I said "oh, I thought those were Yuccas". One and the same folks. We were fortunate enough to see a bobcat at our lunch stop and many cool rocks. We took the "geology road" and continued on it for what ... read more
