We (Mouang and I) think this image captures everything we think of Vietnam so far. This photo is of a Vietnamese couple fishing for shrimp in Hoi An. They are paddling sideways to pull the net that is attached to the other side. The Vietnamese people work so hard everyday while still keeping a smile on their faces. It is more than a 100 degrees and this couple is exposed to the sun while paddling vigorously to pull the heavy net in the water, but turned to smile when we passed. ... read more

Second Post! (Day 2-4) Sorry for the lateness in posting, the internet connection has been very poor. Mouang, dad, and I visited the place he was born and grew up in Tra Kieu. It was so hot walking in the sun visiting relatives of his. It was atleast 103 degrees. Mouang and I both sufferred from sunburns. We also visited a family farm of watermelon and Mouang and I was able to see a cotton field for the first time. We then tried to eat lunch there while trying to fight off a billion flies!!! Not fun at all. We then went back to our hotel in Hoi An exhausted and burned only to find that there is a mandatory power outage at that time! First Post! It is damn hot! We are writing in post at 4AM because we can't go back to sleep! We landed in Saigon and it was 95 degrees and pouring hot rain. After a rough landing in Da Nang on a domestic flight, the 90 minute car ride to Tam Ky was crazy weaving in and out of men, women, children, pigs, and even cows on mopeds! Mouang slept the whole ride but was able to catch a water buffalo right next to the van. Tam Ky is even warmer than Saigon, but not as humid. That's about all. Sorry, no photos yet.
