Blood or not No it is not blood. Around the neck is a neckless that is common and sold thorughout parts of Africa. They are usually bright colours. But for some reason this kid has gone way over the top with some fresh okra paste. This will dry up eventually and look like the others. There is an option for these people to live in the main town but I think it was better to live in the village than the main town. They seemed to be content with their lives. Now that tourism is there. I think they realise the benifit of posing for a few photos.
are those red marks, patches of blood? Does it hurt them to wear those rings? This blog is so well written and nicely photographed, that I couldn't finish reading it, coz I can feel the harshness of living in these people's shoes (or lack thereof).
am I missing something? A very nice blog indeed mate :D Just want to point out something for the sake of history. Tha massacre you mentioned was commited by the government against the Muslim Brotherhood who lived in Hama. The Brotherhood was the victim not the executioner.
Cheers

Thanks for the comments Yeah I missed that bus by a good 3 and a half hours. I heard the birds chirping in the morning and I thought that doesnt sound good.
Nice read :) - I havent and after reading your blog wont use Larium - I had dreams the people on the boat with me were skinning me alive so they could use a sheet of skin to send faxes in Papua New Guinea. Rather uncool when you have to look at them from the minute you woke up. The bungee jump sounds AWESOME!
