Not for Moc Chau My Ao Dai would be OK, but the long white trousers may be ruined because of the red soil on the hills. So as you said, the dress was not suitable for walking in this area, although Ao Dai would look so beautiful in such a great scenery.
Moc Chau Thanks for the interesting photos. The countryside looks beautiful - I have heard that the area is popular for short trips from Hanoi. This is your first blog without a photo of you in an ao dai I think? Perhaps because the ao dai is not suitable for the countryside? Interesting to see that they have black and white holstein type cows. I know they are more productive, but I prefer the beautiful small brown cows that I have seen in other parts of Vietnam.
I loved Quy Nhon Hi Hong Ha. Great to hear about your trip. I was in Quy Nhon in March on my way up the coast and I loved the place. It has a lovely atmosphere. I walked to the beach at the Lepers hospital and went the long way and got a bit lost; a local woman gave me a lift on her bike to ensure I got there. I found the people so warm and friendly.
I'm keen to go to Tuy Hoa after your report. Look forward to your next trip.
Fantastic Thank You I can truly say that your blog is one of the best I have ever seen.Very insightful without being to over the top with detail. You have given a future traveler to Vietnam good bit of insight on what to expect. Thanks Again
Country side I have't heard about these places. Then ,look up at LP guide. The Cham structures are quite similar to Angkor. Beautiful pixs and country side.
Congratulations Dear friend: I am so happy to get news from you and mainly if those news are related to travelling. The place you visited is very interesting. The pictures are really very good. Love, from Argentina.
Well planned Congratulations for your successful trip !
I admire how you always maximize the value of your planned trip within the related budget specially.
Cham architecture Thanks for the great photos of the Cham towers. I have seen the excellent Cham Museum in Danang but not the actual towers. It is good that you have drawn attention to this area of Vietnam which seems to be rather neglected in most of the travel guide books.
Great photos again and a very interesting blog. The Chàm brick towers are very intesting. The sail fish is so huge it is amazing, it could feed a whole village. It is wonderful that this company sponsored your travel, what a great opportunity. It is great to read one of your blogs again and this seems like such an interesting area. Your Ao Dai looks lovely. (PS: the VN coffee was great) - take care and we look forward to your next entry. Warm regards from here in Australia.
Transport system should be improved Thank you for your comment. I wish Sri Lanka could set up a good tourist bus system like in Vietnam and Thailand. This would help us move around major tourist sites easily at reasonable prices. The public bus is too slow and uncomfortable, while car rental is US$90/day, so I couldn't travel too far. The visa fee of US$45 is a big amount too. When I visited Nepal, within my 10 day stay, I paid only US$25 for a visa. Hotels at the Cultural Triangle between US$25-40 may also be expensive for many tourists. Thanks to Air Asia, now we can fly to Colombo in a cheaper way.
Thanks for visit I'm a Sri Lankan, actually it's really interesting about your self traveling to Sri Lanka.. i hope everyone would enjoyed their time in Sri Lanka.. still many things you missed in Sri lanka, i just hope government should support tourists, which is reduce the taxes and low down the payments, and increase the facilities for foreigners.. again thank you for your pictures... welcome again
No lotus flowers in April Hi Christina, as I said in my blog, the lotus season lasts only 3 months (June, July and August). If you visit the lake in April, you'll only see lotus trees and leaves, and no flowers at all. Some other great places to see lotus flowers are Mui Ne or Dong Thap in southern Vietnam. April is a good month to see mountain scenery in the northernmost region of Vietnam if you like trekking. Have a good trip!
Very interesting Since I have seen the Lotus Lake of Vietnam in a movie, I was awed by it and have been wanting to know and read more about it. Thank you Hanoi girl for writing about it! I can't remember that movie but I can't forget that Lotus Lake scene. They were blooming at the time and it was a picture of loveliness! Lotus blooms spilling all over the screen! Season time is June?
You see, I was planning to go this summer to Vietnam but i wanted to see a lake in full bloom of lotus. So maybe i should wait 'til June? If i go there this April, will I see lotus flowers in bloom in the West Lake Water Park in Hanoi?
Cha Ca La Vong Ate this signature dish, Cha Ca La Vong, at the restaurant of the same name, on La Vong Street in Hanoi. The best meal in the north or the south. Same location since the early days of Indochine; same family runs it; and the dish is legendary. White fish cooked at your table in a stone bowl of hot, seasoned oil, and add fresh vegetables and noodles. Don't miss it!
