A blog from Tara! So nice to see a blog from you waiting in my newsfeed this morning - I remember Brendan's trip well, and I loved looking at those food photos! I can see why you are excited to go back to Bolivia :)
Bolivian magic You have completely transported me to Bolivia with your beautiful descriptions and stunning photos. I love how you've captured the diversity of the people and the landscapes of Bolivia as well as the diversity of the the travelers you meet along the way. Thanks for a wonderful start to my day!
Bolivian magic Thanks Rachel! So glad you enjoyed your vicarious journey in Bolivia with me. It is an amazing country, and we've a wonderful community here in TB land!
Thanks so much, Bekah! I would love to see this on the front page too, as well as other favorites, but it's a mystery to me how those are chosen. In the meantime, thanks for letting me know that you like it!
where? Hi
Gmail told me you had left a response to a comment of mine.... but I can't for the life of me locate it ?? I am a tad useless in this site.... so..... what has it? Oh ... then I won't find it again!!! Maybe try my email : drielsmapaul50@gmail.com ... ciao
I've just read your last two blogs, settled down with a nice cup of tea, revelling in the slow spirit which your travelling celebrates. Wonderful. Lovely blogs. Lovely moment. Love the elves and the mulberry photos in this one as well.
Revelling in the slow Thanks, Trace, I do love slow, as you probably remember from our mountain climb. So funny that in Argentina wherever Germans had settled, there were more elves than I ever saw in Germany. Glad you liked the lovely mulberries too!
UFOs Some believe, some don't believe, some are skeptical. I don't know where I fit. I do know I've seen one...there were seven of us. It was even in the papers the next morning to our surprise and was chased by two jets of the NZ Air Force. It's also is in a book on UFOs...yet we never reported our sighting...but is definitely the same one. Gotta love those places where the mysteries of UFOs reign.
Wonderful! What a wonderful place it seems to be, I can't wait to get there! Probably won't be for yet another couple of years though, but I'll sure go there!
Relaxing and perfect for bike riders! I had a $10 limit for what I'd pay for a dorm bed in Argentina and Chile, though it took a little work to find these rock-bottom, but perfectly fine, places. Poor Argentina is undergoing a financial crisis right now, so if you get dollars, you can get a much better "blue" rate exchange, making listed prices on web sites much lower. Of course, if you ride and have a tent, the world is yours! In La Cumbrecita, you could free camp most anywhere.
Mountain towns Always good to follow you on the slow road around South America. Love towns and villages that most people don't write about. Be careful of those steps cut in rock on wet days. We don't want you taking a tumble.
Hidden gems Thanks, Merry Jo. So glad you like following me in these little-visited, but so worthwhile spots. I'll be careful on those slippery steps; fortunately, I've a hard head and can tumble and recover rather well.
jacaranda heaven Thanks for your kind words, Cindy, and how wonderful that you have a jacaranda of your own. They're all over in temperate climates, so they can always remind us of home.
I´m a one-way ticket, slow traveler, relishing the freedom of the open road and trusting serendipity to guide my journey. When I was younger, I used to travel for a year at a time. Then a few years ago, I roamed Europe and North Africa for three and a half years and liked that even better.
On August 1st, 2010, I left my peaceful Mission Canyon paradise in Santa Barbara's mellow summer and emerged from a couple of planes a day and a world later in the teeming, sub-zero streets of Buenos Aires´winter. Now, with the Andes, Amazon and Galapagos between here and home, will three years be enou... full info
