Well - so ends the perfect weather when we got to Arches - I think it was warmer in NH - days 55-60 with thunderstorm in the morning. Had a site in the park and did have a great second day - hiked Delicate Arch and Devil's Garden, north and south windows and took lots of pictures. Next day was cloudy again and went into Canyonlands - made it to Moab to camp that night - had to hook up - batteries ran low! Off to Moab Brewery for $10 pitchers of Scorpion Pale Ale and 15 cent wings - YES - 15 cents! Met a very nice guy from PA at the bar who was out on work looking for oil shale in the Utah Mtns. Staying in Moab an extra night because the SUN ... read more

From Mesquite we headed across Nevada, Arizona, and into Utah to Zion National Park - another beautiful campground with majestic scenery from our campsite and in the park. We hiked Hidden Canyon - even with chains on the side of the trail - dropoffs weren't like Angel's Landing though - and biked the Pa'rus trail in the park - had lots of energy that day. The Virgin River was ROARING - a little bit dirty with the 5000 tons of silt it removes every day! Had a delicious dinner at Parallel 88 - enjoyed sunset on the Watchman Tower with the horse grazing below. Next day we took Ernie to Bryce to hike from Sunrise to Sunset. Took lots of pictures of the Hoodoos from the trails above. Rode thru Zion's tunnel and had a very ... read more

We left Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood,AZ after hiking in Sedona, giving Ernie a bath in the Verde River at the campground and getting beautiful pictures of the Red Rocks! On to Las Vegas to do the wash and lose a few bucks at the Casino - not the greatest campground! But then, on the Valley of Fire State Park north of Las Vegas. we camped among the Red Rocks and guess who drove in as we're setting up - Doug & Judy. Spent 3 relaxing days climbing up the rocks - Ernie loved it. He's nimble and quick,, and Stevie had a hard time keeping up with him! What beauty in this country - so many foreign campers with rental campers - they come to enjoy the beauty of our state and national ... read more

What Beauty we have in this country! We just spent 4 nights camping in the Grand Canyon. We had beautiful campsites, hiked a bit of Bright Angel and Kaibab (about 1 mile down), saw sunset at Powell Point, walked the Trail of Time showing the geology of the canyon from 50 yrs to 1,900 million years (yes, that's a billion +!), had examples of rocks from each layer to see and touch, had lunch overlooking the canyon in El Tovar lounge, and ended with Sunrise Easter Service at Mather Point with the sunrising behind the cross! A perfect way to end a perfect stay. Our friends from church, Doug and Judy were there and we ended our days with them and meet them on the trails. Our friends from skiing, Chris, Rich, and Hage were there ... read more

Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona - Such a fine site to see. It's a girl, my lord in a Dodge pickup with a Bullet trailer, slowin' down to take a look at me! TAKE IT EASY! Had to sing this song on the way to Meteor Crater campground we're we spent the night. On to the Grand Canyon today and off the grid for a few days. We've had head on winds so taking lots of stops at the gas station. Had a great night in Red Rock Canyon in OK where we enjoyed the birds singing and quiet time camping in the canyon. Stayed in Santa Rosa - great rib dinner at the campground restaurant. Putting on about 400 miles a day so not much time for too much, but do manage to ... read more

Hi All - Sunrise on Myrtle Beach - something we don't often see. Then to Columbus GA to pick up our camper on Friday, April 15. Got all of the details and hope we know how to disconnect the hitch - I think Doug will have to give us a crash course at the Grand Canyon. Then off to Cordova, AL dodging multiple tornados coming from all directions - last time we went thru with a camper we drove thru a hurricane! Then we packed the camper in torrents of rain - NOT GREAT FOR THE FIRST DAY! Today, the weather cleared and it was really warm in Memphis - 51! But we drove into warm weather and camped with blue skies and warmer weather! Getting a few things organized and packed into camper. On to ... read more

The truck was packed with not an inch to spare and made it to Myrtle Beach in good time to get Ernie to the kennel and to our timeshare on the ocean. Flowers and green grass and warmer weather and no more SNOW. Played "The Witch" - beatiful course in the Low Country with boardwalk paths between the holes. Loved our tuna at bonefish and raw oysters at Rockefellers - food we can't get in NH. Had a thunderstorm over the ocean with lightning flashes and thunder. Happy hour on the patio watching the waves come in. Off to get the camper on Thur.... read more
