Really enjoyed reading about San Fran we really enjoyed it there also, we stayed in Palo Alto with friends the first time and explored all you did, 6 yrs ago we also went to Yosemite driving from beautiful Lake Tahoe, seeing the wild flowers on the way th
Sorry I wrote in the wrong space, we drove through Nevada to Mono Lake, very interesting with tufa limestone towers we were amazed, its quite close to one of the outer entrances to Yose. There we saw the largest ribs ever at a cafe. Well worth a visit if you are able. Happy travels hope your ankles are improving I know how you feel.

Hello Jenny & Rae
Great to hear from you both and yes we both loved Yosemite - such a beautiful scenic place could have stated much longer than we did but may be next time...... We are currently in Death Valley and it is so hot, how we long for some cool weather - still not able to do much hiking so have spent a lot of time in the hot spring swimming pool at Furnace Creek exercising the ankles to try and improve mobility so I can start tackling some longer hikes...... Hope all is well with you two, we hope to catch up with Arab & Andrea in Vancouver we have such pleasant memories of our time with them and you on the lovely Cook Islands. Take Care and keep in touch - Paul and SheilaX

Beloved SA
Hi Jonathan - great to hear from you again and you must be really excited about another planned trip to your beloved SA - we can quite understand why you like it so much - such a diverse beautiful country and we hope one day to return, although before we do we have to pay a fine at a SA Embassy! On leaving SA we were stopped at customs as apparently we had overstayed our 90 day visa by two days! We were actually only in the country for about 40 days in total, as you know we left many times to cross borders into Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. We had wrongly assumed that the 90 days would start again on our re-entry each time but apparently this is not the case. I am just about to write to the SA Embassy in the UK as we had checked their website and no mention was made of this at the time but it left a ‘sour taste’ in our mouth when we left the country which was such a shame after mostly ‘good’ experiences. We are currently in Dubai with our eldest daughter, Sharon, husband Geoff and granddaughter, Maisie and in fact spent Christmas day with their SA friends so had a typical SA Christmas which was great including the turkey cooked on the Braai with lovely blue skies....... Just starting to plan our next adventure to take us through 2015 which is quite exciting so a happy New Year to you, take care and lots of love from your fellow ‘eeehh’ team members, Paul and Sheila X

Latest blog.
Happy Christmas and Happy New Year , Paul & Sheila! ;-) Just read your latest blog. A lot of it is very familiar to me , like the Karoo , The Garden Route, The Wine Route and all around the Western Cape. Youve followed in the footsteps of a "strawberry blonde" from Nottingham. Must have been very emotional to be in South Africa as Madiba passed, ive watched it wall to wall and been in regular contact with my sister and South African friends. None of us can believe he's gone and what a profound effect , him passing, has had on us all! Your travels have been amazing , your experiences and stories, the latest one of the "cigarette" incident... i had to read it twice... incredible! 2015/16 i plan to be in Cape Town, with Andy, watching England V South Africa ( cricket) and then we plan a drive up the east coast,to end up flying out of Durban. I intend to to go to Qunu,Nelson Mandelas village and stay at the Nelson Mandela Museum, which overlooks pretty much where he was buried. Anyway i want you to know, your the only homeless people i know!! ;-)) ... but i have no worries that someone will take you both in, or give you a tent to camp out in ... be "just like home" eh ??. Lots of Love to you both Jonathan X

Nomads until 2015
We hope to meet you when you come to the United States. It is morning here so I have coffee in hand and ready to read. Love the Merrkat photos. I agree, no reason to jump off a perfectly good bridge. You've seen some amazing things and have taken wonderful photos. We never tire of seeing whales or any animal life. What a wonderful experience to be there during the Mandela remembrances. We love your style of writing and you make us want to be on the road again. It is a good thing we are about to have a couple of weeks off or else we'd have trouble finishing your blog. We will spend Christmas with family in Ohio and then head to Vienna Austria for the New Year. With the house rented hopefully your travels will continue and another blog is just around the corner. We don't like to hear the prediction that you won't be blogging for a while.

Happy New Year
Hi Dave and Merry Jo Thanks for your comments and so glad that you have enjoyed our blogs. Hope that you had a lovely christmas with your family in Ohio and I am sure you will enjoy Austria in the New Year. We visited the country a few times when we lived in Berlin in the late 80s and always enjoyed our time there. We are currently planning our trips for 2014 and if you are anywhere near us when we get to the USA it would be great to meet up. Happy New Year to you both from Paul and Sheila, Silvernomads

Africa is volatile!
Glad to hear you got out of Mozambique relatively unscathed. We have decided at the moment it is not worth travelling through there until things have quietened down somewhat. Great blog that you have written and reminded me of so much of our own experiences. Enjoy the rest of your travels!

Memories
Hi Guys. So your travels in SA are nearly over. So many memories and places came back as we read your blog - the photo at Blyde River, the one at Bourkes Potholes - yep, we've got all those too. Enjoy Cape Town again as it is a gorgeous city. We leave on 16th January for South America and are really looking forward to our 6 weeks there. Really excited about seeing Patagonia and the Chile fiords and entering the Antarctic waters. Then there's all the music around Rio, and the mighty Iguasu Falls which are supposed to be even bigger than Victoria Falls! Aren't we all so lucky to be fit and active and doing this travelling?
