Crossing the Saharan sands This is a trip!!! Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania...then? Hope you make it to Mali...to dance with the Tuareg in Timbuktu? We were invited to do this trip in the Caravan of Peace about 5 years ago with a convoy of West African Musicians to Timbuktu to thumb their noses at terrorism...but was cancelled due to terrorist threats...bummer! You are heading into Adventure with a Capital "A"...I envy you.
Mali Hi Dave, Mali sounds amazing however not on my trip list for this time but it is on the bucket list. Unfortunately it is still a red zone. You can visit Bamako and it’s surrounding areas but the must-see of Timbuktu is off limits. I will return!
i am happy you had good time over here. perhaps, next time, you may visit Kashan (especially persian rose water festival and other historical sites), Hamadan, Kish island and persian gulf and also cities located in the north of Iran next to Caspian sea, some have nature similar to Europe and some a mountain based area. worth to visit especially trying to be in contact with locals to see the real face of life in Iran.
Travels Shaun, your blogs are so inspiring to read. You take me to parts of the world I wouldn't imagine visiting and it seems like I am right there with you. Simply amazing!!!

From Kyrgyzstan to US Hey, I just found this post and even though it is dated, I just wanted to say that I appreciate the fact that you wrote about Kyrgyzstan in the warmest tones possible for someone who is not from there. I love my country beyond the usual merits of patriotism and I always get defensive when someone talks about it, but your post made me smile and remember that even though Kyrgystan is backward and REALLY weird sometimes, I really love it, I am glad you were able to see its beauty beyound the shots of Vodka and strange men who insist on helping you wash!!!!!! :)
WOW Your info and photos on Burma are mind blowing. Super Trip. Keep the blog rolling. Keep up the heat. My language for keep pushing the envelope in your travels; You are seeing the world. Outstanding info.
To the Traveller Aaahhhh Shaun - you kept me away from my work for over an hour reading your blog. It was sooo interesting and felt like I was watching one of those Intrepid Traveller programs on TV. Your photos are amazing and lets not comment on that "six pack" and not forgetting EL's awesome figure! What I would do to be 20yrs younger again. Keep those blogs coming and enjoy the rest of the trip. Looking forward to the next lot of news! Cheers Auds
